New 2014 Mini Diesel Hatchback Recall
Discussion
Anyone know anything about the New 2014 Mini Diesel Hatchback Recall?
My Cooper D was due at the dealers last week, i was told on Friday it was delayed until next week and this morning told it's on hold until June/July.
I was told weeks ago it was built and awaiting transport so this must be a serious safety issue as the dealer has also been instructed to take the Diesel demo off the road also.
This does ring alarm bells with me, should i cancel as i don't want a 'quick fixed' car that could cause hassle in the future!

The dealer offered me the option of changing to a petrol, and they also said Diesel to Petrol order changes would be prioritised over existing petrol orders, not sure if that was the dealer making me think i'm special, but not fair on those guys who get pushed back!
I have ordered a contrasting roof but as i was told my car was awaiting transport i'm guessing it's sat in a car park awaiting the fix :-(

This wasn't supposed to be a Mini bashing session, just after info and advice.
Will this be a case in a few years time where the 'Whatcar' buyers guide say avoid early production diesels due to engine issues?
New cars are never cost effective, but new cars with known issues are a depreciation nightmare to sell on!

I didn't mean for this to be a Mini brand bashing, just trying to get more information on what is happening and gauge opinion on buying.
I don't want the 'What Car' buyers guide in the future to read 'great car but avoid early 2014 Diesels due to known engine issues', so i'm not sure if going ahead is the best option until we know more.
