Planned to WFH as soon as I saw the forecast. If only I'd not been so prepared and had left the laptop in the office like most of my coleagues I could have had a days thinking time or something.. Dammit..
Looks like the snow is melting slowly here in the centre of Northampton.. Should be clear enough to get to work by say Monday..

I strolled down to the main road through my village this morning to size up the chances of driving to work. My commute begins with about 5 miles of rural b-roads.
Getting out of the cul-de-sac on foot was challenging. On the junction with the main road there is a slight slope (1/50 maybe) and there was a chap in a Merc sliding backwards over the "STOP" line onto the main road.
I decided to keep walking to the edge of the village, but obviously not going anywhere today even if I do drive a Saab.
My car is next to the Smart.
The main through road...
The wastes...
15 minutes after I saw him at the crossroads, the man in the Merc has got 50yds up the slope. Looks like he had some help He had come from the left of this pic and that's the entrance to his property.
Please drive slowly

Least she didn't wear heels!
Around 6:30am, my dozy misses decided to try and get to work in Rushden. Needless to say she got stuck, along with many others.
I had to walk a couple of miles to take her some boots as she decided flat shoes were appropriate footwear in 6-8 inches of snow.
Aaaaaarrrrrrrggggggggghhhhhhhh!

Snowing again here now.
It's been great fun. Fab to see people outside and family and neighbours talking and having fun together!
Hooked the dog up to the sledge this morning (not Jake I hasten to add). Made a great dog sleigh! Till he went over curbs or suddently stopped...
Impossible to get around this morning by car. So many stuck and abandoned vehicles about. Just enjoy having some time out and fun while it lasts I say!

BBC forecast for next few days is combination of heavy and light snow for NN14/15
Sunny in Luffwick at present (wonder if the pub's open yet?)
Spoken to a mate at the met office who reckons we'll be due about the same again in the next 24-36 hours. Thawing in town at the moment, but still plenty left. No sign of gritted roads, but pretty much turned to slush now..Sunny in Luffwick at present (wonder if the pub's open yet?)

Currently plotting what makes a good make-shift sledge
Car parts not an option...

Bin bags and tea trays worked pretty well when I was a kid. Popped into town to see a pitched battle raging between various groups of yoofs - I think the Poles were well and truly pasting the Brits Currently plotting what makes a good make-shift sledge

The Poles *may* have some expertise and experience in the field...
