Steve, you need to have a dose of the Pistonheads gang.

I hear you have a bad foot.

Give me a shout if you want me to pick you up.

Can someone PM me with Steve's mobile please?

Mines stupid in a funny way rather than stupid in 'you drove like a tw*t' way.

On our way back from London last night, driving through the road works on the M1, came across 2 workmen in the roadworks, holding hands and skipping down the road in a morcombe and wise sytleee hehe honked the horn and got a wave and a smile back. Made me laugh anyway

Ah the return to work.....
Drove to Kettering, first train standing room only, if your significantly smaller than me anyway.

Next rain cancelled.
Next unknown, so back home working from my kitchen.

Was so worth getting up at 5:45.

Happy Xmas from Midland Mainline!

Had a great drive into work this morning, travelling down the M1 just by the bucks border, the following happens.

7 1/2 tonner overtakes another in the outside lane, pulls back in and promptley slams his brakes on yikes
this causes the guy behind to swerve out into the outside lane causing another 7 1/5 tonner to slam into the crash barrier, cover the outside lane in glass and plastic and almost tip over.
All this happened about 20ft infront of me and Di!!!
we all managed to get over to the hard shoulder, ring police etc and gave my details as a witness. suprise suprise the guy that caused it never stopped banghead leaving 4 very shook up people and one written off lorry

So it was you (Matt) that caused the traffic on the A45 this morning by the M1.

I am glad you were clear of the crash. Lets hope the lorry driver gets caught before someone is killed.

I didn't see the truck that caused it, and the driver behind him only got the 3 numbers of his plate, police said that there wasn't really alot they could do

Erm, what about all this CCTV that's overseeing our M-way network? What the **** is that all for?!?

Edited to say that even if the incident isn't on CCTV, it's likely that CCTV will have spotted a small number of trucks in the neighbourhood of victim truck(s) from say 1/2 mile before, which are therefore likely culprits. If the CCTV can then extract the plates...match against the 3 numbers and you have some rather compelling evidence, as there's nowhere the culprit could have gone to or come from on a M-way.

Ferchristssakes, is it THAT difficult to string a case together nowadays?!? rolleyes

apparently that stretch of the M1 between 15 and 14 has no cameras, well thats what the traffic police guys said anyway. I guess thats for the truck drivers insurance companies to persue. Its abit cr@p though, I'm just glad we weren't caught up in it other than being witness to it

You must have been near Newport Pagnell as that's near j14 (and matches the traffic I spotted).

Be glad you are alert. I hope you are both feeling calmer now.

I saw the original culprit who done the brake test but we were too far back to see numberplates, and my eyes are good. Lucky we were too far back else we would have been too close to avoid.
Makes you think about how close you are driving to the person in front on any road, we are lucky when it happened no-one was driving too close to US.

think we were about 2 miles from newport services

Here's a good one... Fri morning on the way to werk, on Harboro' by-pass in the Tiv when I start to smell burning rubber. Bit alarmed and paranoid as only seasoned Tiv drivers can be, I scan the guages (all ok), check the mirrors (no smoke), winfd the window down... urghhhh, there it is...stronger. Then I realise the silver Mongdayo in front is slowing (we had been going well just moments before)..I see some bluish smoke wisping from the side of his motor, just as the tyre cracass parts from the drivers side front rim, bounces off a car on the opposite lane and returns between us to land on the verge. Chummy in the Mongdayo then stops with a few sparks gracefully garnishing his lack of progress. I stop as I assume some major mechanical catastrophe has unexpectedly occurred and want to make sure he's ok.... turns out the muppet realised he had a puncture at Corby... maybe 9 miles hence, and thought 'he would change it at work'...in Leicester!! Jesus H, I really resent having to share roadspace with these idiots eek
