Morning all

amongst all the terrible news, bombs, politicians and other crap. This has sneaked up on me.

First ODI today versus the mighty Proteas.

Anyone going ?

Expecting a close series on both fronts, we have the batting, but think we lack a top of the line bowler, and definitely some guile in the spin section.

Jimmy A also a doubt for the Tests, with a groin tear..

I thought this might be a close game but it seems not!

OK 12 over to go but we are still well in front.

Hope I've not jinks (sp) it!

Ha ha... far too squeaky at the end. Woods bowled a death over that only Jade Dernbach could have bettered.

Lovely stuff from England. But we are still a bowler short to challenge for silverware in this format.

one day the bats will only get 280 and the bowlers can't defend that... yet.

Still good win, and Morgan remains an underrated Skip.

Overcast Morning at Lords and an 11 am Start.

Needed a more Boycottian approach to the first ten overs I think.

I wonder if SA will reverse the batting order to make a game of it for the crowd biggrin

Don't know, would be funny if they did. But clearly the ball is moving around, so they probably won't

Rashid needs his head examining. five down and not 30 on the scoreboard. 1st ball, what shall I do.....

Doomed, doomed I say.

At least we won't go into the Trophy too cocky

100 up - still fighting

Still I reckon this will be very close, I mean South Africa will probably win, but only by a couple of runs.

Thank goodness for Jonny Bairstow!

I know that we secured the series in the last (excellent) game, but come on! It's always good to let the lower-order batsmen get some match practice in, but 20-6 half way through the first Powerplay? Come on!

What it needs now is a debutant with a double-barrelled surname to come to the rescue, and help Bairstow out.
