What was it? I'm sure you'd get another. If not, time for a nice new version!
An i20. Booked for a fitting on Tuesday for a new G version.
Expensive month though, only just bought a Ping Tour bag, motocaddy S3 pro and on Tuesday I ordered a Ping 4 Crossover (thankfully on backorder for now)
Oooh... keep us posted on the Crossover, interested in those myself.

^^^ Great pic, I really fancy getting out there today.

What's the score with powered trolleys? Are they just for the old and infirm? wink

I am getting quite tempted to treat myself. Any recommendations?
I always carry. It makes the round feel a bit more exhaustive and like worthwhile exercise. Someone told me that it burns circa 1500 calories per round! Enough for a club sandwich and a few pints on the 19th.

Failing that, pull/push a trolley!
I've always carried too and I could do with the exercise. The only time I don't is when in Portugal with the society as we all have buggies. Maybe best to wait until I'm a little older and more infirm. smile
I used to carry, but I think it's detrimental to your game. The closer you get to the 18th green, the more knackered you are!

However, unless you play a really hilly course, I think powered trolleys are for the older generation.

I use a Sun Mountain V1 push trolley and it is superb. Effortless to push and the large wheels are superb at going over/through rough. Avoid trolleys with small wheels.

Also, powered trolleys are heavy and you always have to make sure your battery is charged and that you haven't left it at home..... hehe

Absolutely cracking weather here this week! Can't wait until the weekend - we have an away match at Royal St George's so should be good.

When did the rules change so you can now have the flag tended when you're off the green? Just watching the PGA and have done for many years. For some reason I've never really noticed before! smile
Been like that for as long as I can remember if I'm honest. Wouldn't know if/when it has been changed?

You can have it removed, tended or held up from anywhere on the course.

I'm the last person to claim to be a rules expert but I think there should be a stewards on that one.

I was thinking of knocking off work early today and playing a round in the sun. I've got my clubs and trolley in the car so it would have been perfect, except for 'casual fridays' and me deciding to wear jeans today.

Maybe I'll go home and wash the car instead.
If you're knocking off early, surely you have time to go home and get changed smile

Also, be very wary of leaving clubs etc. in the car/van. Had everything (bag, trolley, waterproofs, Garmin watch, etc.) stolen doing the exact same thing 2 years ago.

Looking for suggestions for a weekend away later in the year.

We're based in Sheffield so no more than 90 minutes travel please.

Considering the Belfry.

Last year we did Forest Pines out at Shorpe which was OK.

Would prefer two different courses or at least three 9 holers to choose from.

Accommodation on site a plus but not a deal breaker.
Woodhall Spa, surely!

does any one have experience of golfbidder and their condition assessment? is it usually over or under expectation? as in when they say its 7/10 did you receive them and think the clubs were in fact better or worse than expected for 7/10. cheers.
I would be wary and ask for more pictures of what you are interested in.

I sold a a set of Mizuno clubs on there and in fairness they gave me a good price. But I told them about every mark on the clubs and sent pictures before I agreed to sell them.
They gave me their price based on these pictures and I accepted.

However - when I viewed my old clubs on their website, I noticed that they had carefully placed stickers/labels over the main scuffs/scrapes of the clubs (mainly on the soles).

So, if you are looking and there seems to be a big bar code sticker on the sole of a club, it's probably masking a big scuff or scratch!

I had the Ping rapture driving iron, but I struggled to launch it high enough to be of any use.
Went for a fitting to fit a gap at the long end of my bag. 5 wood->3 iron. I'm a low launcher of the ball and couldn't get the bloody hybrids airborne. I expected the same from the Crossover having had the rapture. But amazingly they launch the ball really nicely. I've gone down a flex to stiff to make sure I don't chase distance with it. Cant wait, love my long irons and hopefully this will be a fairway finder on tight holes.
How are you getting on with the Crossover?

Still waiting for it. Should hopefully be here this week. Ping where out of stock of the heads. (if you want off the shelf fitting, you can pick them up from any shop tomorrow, but typically, mine is a custom fit)
I have however, just put a Ping G SF tec 5 wood into the bag. I went for a the heavier Tour 80g shaft which feels lovely and kept the gapping right. No launch issues with this bugger. Its a bit odd to see that much height from the deck with a fairway wood in hand for me.

Will also be bagging the new Ping iBlades when they get launched. My current S55's are starting to show the wear of 2 an a bit seasons of golf and 350+ rounds.
A friend of mine (club pro) is having a Ping week in a fortnight so I'll give it a go and get fitted for one if I like it. I'm a custom fit man as well.

I'm actually considering swapping out both my 3 hybrid and 4 iron for 2 of them..... if I like them!

Just realised that my irons have just hit 12 years old! Bought them on the day of my last exam at uni, didn't expect them to last long at all as I used to change every 12 months - 12 years later I still have no idea what I'd change them for.

Almost quite proud of myself with that!
That is good going! What irons are you playing?

Yep, love evening golf!

Had another knock out match last night, lost 2&1. Had to give away 6 shots, and I even managed 2 birdies - both for halves!!! spin

I was giving 10 shots last week in a knockout. I was never up in the match once, I was 3 down at one point but dug in and got it back to 1 down on the 18th tee. Won the 18th to take it to extra holes. Eventually lost it on the 21st hole after a very unlucky bounce from a sprinkler head kicked me behind a tree.
Still it was a bloody good match and you can't win them all.

Played yesterday and came second with 37points. It was terrible weather the whole way round but that tends not to bother me. It was good enough for 0.1 off the handicap and back down to 4.4 (lets see if I can stay at 4 for more than a weekend)
I was 3 down after 8, won the next 3 on the bounce to get back to all square. Ended up dormie 3, won the 16th and would have won the 17th but he managed to hole a putt for a half.

Still, good fun!

Had a 30 a side match against the parent club yesterday. Great day. Course is in stunning condition. Played foursomes and won our match 5&4. We beat the parent club 9-6.

Fantastic lunch afterwards and ended up pretty much stfaced! Happy days!

I've signed for 55 points from a 28 handicapper that was on one. He lost 6 shots from a his handicap for that round and struggled the rest of the season to play to it.
I've shot 46 points this year, I did shoot -2 gross though. So highstable ford points are possible for anyone. I'll be totally honest and say I try to avoid stableford comps purely for the reason. Medals tend to thin the heard of high handicappers playing lifey's.
Wow, 46 seems believable but 50 plus just seems silly.

All a bit caddyshack priest hehe
46 points playing off 4?! Nope, I'd still be fed up hehe

Stableford is wk IMHO. It's not really golf to come away from a hole saying 'oh well, I blobbed that one'
No, you took about 10 on it!
Can you imagine how slow some of the play would be if people didn't pick up, though?
