Federer has the hardest draw by far.
Djokovic a good draw.
Murray could well make the QF without dropping a set. Haase is a shadow of the player he was last time they met.

It's that time again! Murray to finally take this one I think in a 4 set final. I predict he'll have a very tight semi-final match (4hrs) too. He knows just how to peak at the right time now, has two big titles under his belt and is in a very elite group of 4 (I don't count Del Potro) who have been in the big finals many times and have earned their titles.

Hopefully making it over for the second week but the schedule is tight. The word from the locker room is the court temperature is about as punishing as it gets now. It's always been brutally hot during the Open and the sun is VERY strong there. Should be a great slam.

Word is that the surface is playing as bit faster and coupled with the lighter balls, I think this will suit Murray (and Fed unfortunately).

Murray is on at midnight tonight so hopefully, he can get through to R2 with a minimum of fuss but knowing Hasse, he has an annoying habit of mailing it in against lesser opponents (as he has done for the past year) but wakes up for the big matches.

Murray looked mightily impressive today beating Hasse in 90 mins. Seems to be playing with even more aggression and controlling the centre of the court more making Hasse do the majority of the running.

well my prediction that Dimitrov would go deep was very wrong, lost in 1st round

another of my dark horses was Dolgopolov (not to win but to go far) just lost to Monfils who is on the comeback trail so perhaps not a huge surprise

and yes Murray safely through, as are Djokivic and Federer

and go girls!!

Joao Sausa up next for Murray. Clay court specialist, spends almost all his time on the challenger tour, doing quite well at that level.

Easy 3 sets for Murray.

come on Laura, just got 2nd set against Kvitova, keep the momentum going, very easy to have a slump in this situation

Back on serve.

Excellent performance for Robson however it goes. Should give her some good confidence.

Equal pay is fine, just make the Women play best of five as well.

Sharapova has won both of her opening matches 6-0 6-0, Serena Williams has won 6-0 6-0 and 6-2 6-0, for the same prize money as the men.

yes and Kvitova having a teary moment and robson breaks!!! Woohoo!

re equal pay well yes that would help but I still think the quality is nowhere near the mens at the momentand I bet that shows up in the gate

Serena will beat Sharapova she is by far the better player

cannot disagree at the moment adn I suupose even when in Navratilova/Graf era it still was not as good as mens but at least it was worth watching over the past few years I have barely watched a women's match

yes still going and I of course support Robson but boy is it dull, ace then df then winner then ue and repeat

And three brits in round 3.

When was the last time that happened in a slam?

Robson wins 11-9.

I have zero interest in the Women's game, and only ever follow it, vaguely, at the GSs

I watched a couple of Sharapova's matches at Wimbledon last year, and considering she is supposed to be one of the top players the quality was atrocious. The match winner was whoever had the fewest UEs. Truelly woeful.

Ladies tennis is in the same doldrums that Mens tennis was briefly in between the demise of Sampras and the rise of Federer. Basically boring baseline hammering.

Agreed. Especially womens tennis being such terrible state.

The slower playing surfaces and racquet/strings technology does make players play the game in a baseline grind fest. Would people want to go back to the pre 2000s when surfaces were so fast that it was an ace fest especially at Wimbledon? 2 shot rallies do not make it any more entertaining than 38 shot baseline exchanges.

re speed of courts the ace fest of the 90s was as dull as the 6 hour basline practise we were treated to this time last year, they have gone too far the other way now, somewhere in between is perfect

Watching Monfils can be truly wink amusing.

29 aces and 23 DFs today. In the last game of the match he served 4 DFs, all on match point, and then won with a 2nd serve ace! wobble
