Surprised Ronnie/Maguire are facing each other in round 1, has one of them had a bad year?

Poor safety shot. Could end up all square now.

Cracking match this has been. Feel a bit sorry for Maguire, this match has summed up his career - glimpses of brilliance with lots of ste thrown in with it and a bit of beating up on himself added in. When he won the UK Championship 14/15 years ago (beating Ronnie on the way) most folks thought that this guy was guaranteed to be a future world champ. But he’s never really lived up to that early potential.

Problem with Maguire as you touched upon is his temperament, if something goes wrong you are almost guaranteed to see him wave his cue around or hit the table in frustration.

Essex vs Essex in the last 16, got to love Ronnie’s talent, got to love Ali Carter’s bottle too. Will be a great match.

Just seen the graphic on the BBC titles of the latest finish for a World Championship match: 3.51 a.m, Thorburn vs Griffiths. And you thought Davis vs Taylor was a late one! Imagine watching that, even the poor referee would have needed an espresso or two..

Great result for Jones but I fear the qualifiers will create havoc in the early rounds then struggle given how much they've played. Even the highly experienced top 16 say it's a long struggle taking up to 15 days. Anyone want to predict a winner yet? Probably not possible until the 1st round is complete.
