I'm sure someone will clarify but that MAY have been the easiest Grand Slam win ever. 10 matches won (the first to ever come through qualies and win a Grand Slam). 20 sets won, none lost and possibly the fewest games lost?
Truly epic and a very down to earth, eloquent young lady. Hopefully she will be at the top of the game for many years and encourage loads of young girls to play tennis rather than have ambitions of being a WAG or be on Love Island!

Good at carting as well apparently, so could have easily gone the way of being a racing driver, but chose tennis. Truly epic and a very down to earth, eloquent young lady. I had nothing against Fernandez and thought she must be decent after Emma talked about her giving everyone cupcakes when it was her birthday. Moaning within Emma's earshot about the time out wasn't sporting though. Obviously it was frustrating but it wasn't Emma's choice, I assume it's a rule to suspend the game if someone is bleeding onto the court as it's a hygiene and safety issue and it affected Emma's momentum at a crucial point for her. Emma had to play on to the end of the set at Wimbledon when she requested medical attention and that was when she was struggling to breathe.
The Americans were on a patriotic high with it being 9/11 and were clearly favouring the Canadian as the closest thing to an American they had in the final. It would have only been a more favourable crowd for Emma's opponent if she'd been playing someone from the USA. Emma herself was actually born in Canada.

I am not sure why Fernandez was complaining. Did she expect Emma to carry on playing with blood dripping down her leg? Not to mention it couldn’t have happened at a worse time for Emma as she had to step up after the break and try to save a break point (which of course she did). I assume there were a lot of Canadians in the crowd but then the US commentary on ESPN was biased in Fernandez’s favour too).
