well after watching Stan's backhand for 5 hours I agree all 2 handers should be banished! nice to see 2 of them in the quarters

Tsonga has troubled Fed for a couple of years now and looks like he is doing it again, not surprised on this slow court, he was always going to struggle with Tsonga's power yes I too like Tsonga but rooting for Rog as always but if Tsonga wins Murray almost a dead cert for final
Andy has a score to settle with Roger and Novak on the Rod Laver court that's for sure. You've got to face and beat your demons in this game if you are to be a real champion. If he went through these two to take the title.. his mind will click up another gear and he'll get at least 2 more slams this year I'm sure. Love to see him take the French and Wimbledon and hold ALL titles at the same time, Olympics included. Entirely possible with his ability. He is seen in the locker room as one of the toughest guys to beat on the tour. Now his mental game has caught up to the rest of it, he is winning matches before he steps on the court, which is nice smile

I'm secretly hoping Ferrer does something very special but it's a very, very big ask with Novak having virtually every physical and mental weapon you could ever want at his disposal. I'd then fear David getting a little too nervous if he makes the final and getting rolled as he'll likely be facing someone who has a slam title (or 16 if he can sneak this battle he's in now).

Roger the Dodger! It's now the perfect semi final line up.

as long as Murray peaks for this next two matches which I think he will yes he could well win it but I think it is now very difficult to call between the 3 of them, a great few matches coming up

I cannot see Ferrer troubling Djokovic in a best of 5

I called Andy's path before his first match. Straightforward wins without any problems, a battle in the semis and the title in 4 sets.

Tend to agree. Even without the tough match he had today I think Federer would have struggled against Murray in the semi-final so I certainly see Murray winning that one. I can't honestly see Ferrer beating Djokovic so for me it's a repeat of the US Open final with, I suspect, the same player holding the trophy at the end.

In the event Murray does it I think that will move his confidence to another level as not only will that will be back to back Grand Slams he'll also have beaten Federer and Djokovic in consecutive matches to win the second of them. As per one of your other postings, if that happens I can see Murray going on to win at least one other GS this year and the number one ranking may not be too far away come the end of the season!

I think you are right partly due to the incredibly slow court which is a disadvantage to a natural attacker like Fed as the UEs will start building up and plays into the hands of the other two

I agree djoker is the fave he is so mentally strong at the moment, he is right now the clutch king

Went to the Tsonga - Fed match last night. Murray - Fed should be a good one.

If Roger plays as he did during most of the Tsonga match, and Murray starts flouncing, then Roger will win. his back hand is of another world. Can't see Murray doing it actually, his run has been too easy and no real test so far.
Roger in the 5th was outstanding. Murray would beat Ferrer though IMO. stronger, though not mentally, but Djoko to win Slam.

6-2, 6-2, 6-1 against a world-class player?

Only one person winning this one I think!!

Well he has gone to 5 against lesser players though.

Depends on the day and the opponent. Djokovic is definately favourite, but I don't think it is a cert

Will have to catch-up with the highlights tonight but certainly sounds like a very impressive performance given the score! However, without any disrespect to Ferrer, Djokovic will need his best tennis for whoever he meets in the final so I just wonder if he's peaked too soon and left his best match for the tournament behind him?

Djoker is the worst posible match up for Ferrer does everything Ferrer can do but way better and has proper weapons, not surprised although thought it might have been a bit closer

as said above whoever wins out of Fed and Murray are going to have their work cut out

please atp/itf speed the courts up a bit and let some naturally attacking players have a bit more of a chance, I for one do not want to see another 5/6 hour final it is just too long

Can't agree on that entirely. Ferrer knows his limitations and in the back of his mind he knows one of the top 3 has to be having an off day for him to have a chance. This makes his mental game weak (only against these three) because deep down he simply doesn't have the belief he can win these encounters. He maximises everything he has to perfection but he just doesn't possess the weapons to hurt Novak, Roger or Andy.
Andy on the other hand, is fully aware of how good he is what he has in the bag. Even if he falls behind in he has the confidence in his ability that he can get the job done. Rafa was like this too, an absolute belief that he could win the match no matter the score. Andy has had a straightforward run so far, but it hasn't been easy tennis, he's just good enough now to play within himself, send world-class players packing and make it look easy. Gone are the days (touch wood) of him fussing around and making matches far more difficult than they had to be. This makes his runs for Slam titles much more consistent. Since 2011 he has been right up in there and his mental game is night and day from Andy of old.

I wish Monfils would get this kind of mental issue sorted out too, the need to push yourself more than you have to seems to be his default setting biggrin When you are that talented, stick to the script is a tough thing to do because you are capable of doing so much more on each point than you have to. There is a tendency to do more than you need simply because you can (a bit of showboating and a desire to test your own limits plays a part in this), but this leads to inconsistency and letting the other guy off the hook with you've got him against the ropes. The top 10 would be even more exciting if a guy with his abilities could just put it together upstairs. It would be very difficult to deny him a Slam. Too much talent can also be a bad thing, but guys like Monfils and Dolgopolov (one of the most absurdly gifted players I have ever witnessed hold a racquet) makes for an exciting tour.

Whatever the result of Andy and Roger, the final is going to be absolutely fking insane! The guy who puts both hands on the trophy will have had to do EVERYTHING to earn it. We will witness one of the highest levels of play the game of tennis has ever seen, there is a low of serious rivalry between the three remaining players with each of them losing to Andy most recently in the biggest events. It's going to be an absolute treat.

I've only got a stream in Spanish.. the commentary just isn't the same.

A big Slam match isn't the same unless Boris Becker is on the mic, feigning interest in the match while actively hunting for nubile totty when the cameraman pans across the crowd wink

This is going to be a HUGE match. I am going with Andy in four. 64, 75, 67, 63.

At the moment, and I know I will regret saying this, but it looks like straight sets to Murray. The first set stats were telling: Winners, Murray = 16, Federer = 6.
