Friend sad to me that the first thing he is going to do when he plays is put everything he has in to the first tee shot.

The 2nd thing will do is hit a provisional smile

Good luck tomorrow guys, have fun .

Just back from a quick 9 before work - god damn it was great to get out there again. Course was in great nick considering they'd furloughed most of the green staff, and everyone out there was remarkably well behaved.

Ended up chipping in on the last as well to finish 2 over, which I'll take after 7 weeks off smile

Just got to try and focus on work now.....

I've been caught by a house move which means I'm between clubs and therefore not able to join in the fun cry

That was both my mate and me today, his drive off the first tee went into the left bushes then I topped mine and it just made it past the ladies tee. As we were playing for fun and not marking cards I teed up another ball and hit a lovely drive, then a nice 5 wood onto the front of the green and two putted, if we ignore the duff I actually made a par.

It was really nice to be back playing golf again and I'm very pleased that I made a couple more pars and played quite a few good shots, the course was in lovely condition and my buggy performed well so hopefully golf is looking good for the future I think.

Managed to book 4pm tee off for next Tuesday, Wednesday,Thursday, friday and Saturday.

Monday was fully booked within a couple of hours of the news breaking in Wales. Been on the booking system this afternoon to double check my times and almost every single tee off time is booked up until a week sunday.

Started again last June after 10yrs not playing, really enjoyed it.
It's members only allowed currently so I've just joined the club, can't wait to play again, the last game I had was temporary greens so the course must be perfect now. As for my game who knows????

The last game I had was on temporary greens as well, and that was this morning hehe half the greens were being sanded, as they hadn't had enough staff to do it during lockdown. A small irritation, but in the grand scheme of things I was still glad to be out.

Had an eagle on a Par 5, that was playing more like a Par 4 due to where the temporary was. Knocked a 6 iron to a foot away from the wrong fairway smile Considering on the hole before I missed the green from 90 yards away in the middle of the fairway, I can only conclude that this is a stupid game hehe

I have another random question.

So I now have my sticks. And have been practicing in the garden. I can now hit the ball 9 times out of 10. And I think I have a bit of ability with the putter. I can hit the legs on my golf bag in the lounge from 6ft every time.

So I looked into joining a club. In wales you can only go to one if you are a member. And I thought I could use it to increase my fitness whilst trying to learn to hit the ball more often.

But they all want references? When I go online and look at the application form and costs they seem to be a bit anti new people joining. So how are you meant to join these clubs if you don't know anyone who plays there?

There are many out there that don't require a reference.

Membership fees can seem quite high to new people joining the sport. Most venues will have various levels of membership.

I've got a twilight membership (can play 7 days a week after 2pm in the summer and 11am in the winter) which costs £440 a year. The full membership is over £1000.

There's a great course a few miles from me where you can just turn up, pay £12 (£8 in the week) and play 18 holes. If 18 holes isn't enough you can go around again for half price! Not sure where places like that currently stand with the covid restrictions but i wouldn't advise paying for a membership anywhere if you are new to the game. It's an expensive experiment to try only to then find out you hate the game..........although it could become even more expensive if you find out you love the game!

would say that joining a club isn’t worth it until you know you like it. Most around here (decent ones) are over £2.5k a year.

I have had a message - the driving ranges around me are open from Monday. Tee times at pay and play aren’t really available yet (over-loaded with members) but I’d advise to just be patient for a bit

Don’t post often but enjoying reading everyone getting back in to it.

I went for a steady round on Saturday to blow some cobwebs off at my local 9 holer, then did an 18 late yesterday at my local main course and booked on this afternoon for another 18 on the same course.

Similar to others, it’s tee times every 10 minutes and no hanging about after/club shop closed/don’t touch flags/etc etc.

Not just members at my course, anyone is allowed on although I would say it’s not an overly premium golf course.

Had a lovely round yesterday, 3 rounds so far and 30/30/31 points, shame the guys I play with have done 36-38 points each round :/

Our course has also pulled a rabbit, they've set up a posh catering caravan by the first tee/18th green for pre-round takeaway coffee/baps and post-round pints! the 5 pints I had after the round went down very nicely!

Well it wasnt so bad, to say I hadn't played for a few months, had new grips, new wedges and a new putter ( excuses are in ) also the rough hadn't been cut so lost 3 balls which usually would have been fine

Played again Saturday and had a good first 9, 24 points.
Birdie on 6 and 8 and missed a 6’ downhill put for another on 9.
2 other pars.
Unfortunately I am still able to throw in the 8 or two to destroy a round.
Over the lockdown I have probably hit 2000 balls practicing chipping in the garden , plus another 2000 putting on my office carpet 😂, really has made a difference.
Another round booked this afternoon.

Had a great round on Saturday morning! 20 points and 4 over the card on the front nine (birdie on the 1st and a birdie 2 on the 7th). Not as clever on the back but very pleased with myself after the long lay off! 32 points in total.

Playing again tomorrow at 4pm.
