Bloody Hell, that was a bit "Fastest Finger First" on BRS this morning at 7.00 am. I watched the clock countdown and hit the button, by the time I had finished making my booking for 10.45 am pretty well the whole morning was booked out. I looked just now and there are only six late pm tee times left out of 72 for the whole day, it's going to be busy out there!

Christ this has been hard not playing. Got a competition booked in April but can't book a tee on 29th yet.
American Golf open for fitting now so that's booked for the 30th. Need to get the new clubs saga laid to rest. My plan is to get up the range this year between games, it's too difficult for me to keep a decent swing going these days by just playing.
Good luck to you all on the 1st tee on the resumption smile

Same here, managed OK when the weather was awful, getting tough now things are brightening up. Have cleaned and fixed the trolley, and Bay Hill is available on PGA 2K21 now so that will keep me amused for a while. Should probably start doing some stretches as golf uses muscles that haven't done much since December, but one thing at a time smile

Bought a few bits yesterday, due to arrive today:

- Powakaddy CT6
- Callaway Chromesoft X LS balls
- Alignment sticks

I've come around to the need for a trolley over recent months as I seem to play a lot better when using one, toward the end of the round especially. The ball should hopefully lower my driver spin rates (was getting literally zero roll pre-lockdown) - have a shaft fit/check booked on 12th April alongside a full bag fitting - and the alignment sticks should help with both my putting practice and to check my alignment as I think I'm setting up open, causing my mis-shot (poofey fade)

I've added a few bits too recently.

I bagged a nice TS2 driver at a bargain price after a cheeky offer on Ebay to replace my broken Ping G. Despite saying I was going to get properly fit this time I couldn't resist. I've a spare adapter on the way to put my Diamana Kai'li shaft in.
I still can't help looking at the Ping 425 so may end up getting one anyway.
As a point of note. Second hand Ping drivers are crazy expensive at the minute.

Found a 54* and 58* ping glide 3 wedges with griphite shfts for a reasonable price. They came 2.5* flat and half an inch short. I've extended them and put my usual grips on, but will need to get them adjusted once the pro shops open. I like my wedges a bit more upright. Other than that they feel great in the garden.

This morning I won a battered G400 5 wood for under £80. Its got an evenflow shaft which is something I was looking for having hit one previously. This will replace my aging Titleist 980f 3 wood as I'll wind the loft down to make it a 4 wood.

That should be my bag fixed for this year.

Can't wait to get out there now and lose some balls.

I'm just waiting for the fitters to open up again properly. I'm still on the lookout for a 4 iron that will work when I'm not on my game, and have found and purchased on eBay a Nike VR Pro Combo like the below:

Fits in perfectly with the rest of my set (VR Pro Blades), only issue is it has the wrong shaft (S300, I use S400) and is at least an inch too short, so when I tried it last year, it went well but was no longer than my 5 iron, defeating the object. Going to find a local fitter who can put a new shaft in it and set it up the same as the rest of my set.

I have also had the cheeky idea of putting the same shaft in as I have in my Hybrid (Aldila Rogue MAX), but I suspect I'll run into issues with the shaft diameter on that one.

Isn't this the whole problem with long irons, you need to be swinging confidently for them to work? If you are off your game and having any doubts that is really going to show up in long iron strikes/results and you may as well be hitting a 5 or 6 iron.

My personal preference would be to go with a smallish headed rescue in place of the 4 iron. Much easier to hit all the time.

Beautiful set of irons. I loved my Pro Combs back in the day. They were unfortunately stolen.

I'd be tempted to try a Project X or a DG X7 before the graphite. They may help to launch it but will retain a similar swing weight.

I used to have an original TM rescue with an 85g Aldila NV that was an absolute rocket. It had a beautiful strong penetrating flight. Its not like a lot of hybrids that have a high ballooning flight.

Bought a couple of Mizuno MP-H4 long irons last year, 3 and 4, now pretty confident with the 4 off the grass and the 3 off a tee, lovely buttery feel. There are a couple on ebay now, considerably cheaper than mine at the moment, could be a bargain for someone there

You guys trust ebay for clubs?

I seem to hear a lot about fake clubs at the moment, with a lot of people taking up golf .

Maybe that's an issue for new clubs off certain websites but if you're buying used, if the price is right and if the club works I personally wouldn't see anything to stress about.

I've bought and sold quite a lot through eBay. Just be careful and buy from well rated sellers.

Just had an email through from the club, looks like my course is getting a lot easier from next week!

the 3 tough par 4's - all ~450yds uphill and normally into wind - are being made par-5's....assuming I continue to shoot the same it looks like my handicap is heading down to 3!

Won't the new handicapping and slope system mean that away from your course your handicap will not move much?

Although it sounds like the changes to those 3 holes will give a confidence boost to your game if bogeys become pars and pars become birdies.

Only problem with doing it this way is I won't be able to try anything out before I buy, so I expect I'll end up just getting it built to the exact same spec as my current 4 iron, shaft and everything.

I'm a big fan of the hybrid I'm using at the moment as well, a 19 degree 818H2 and it's exactly as you describe the TM, nice low trajectory and really difficult to lose left - which I historically struggled with hybrids.

It's a bit more forgiving that the 1 iron I used to carry anyway hehe

Potentially but the old SI's have been retained on the new temporary/trial scorecard, Golf England still has it down as a 137 slope (was a par-69 with a 71.6 standard scratch)
