I think the desperation review has out-shone the Paine review earlier in the match which requires more attention now that the dust has settled. Appealed LBW because he got an edge, didn't realise it was caught anyway laugh
I was there on Saturday and from the start of the England second innings the Aussies were appealing / going up for every thing in the general vicinity. Reading between the lines of Langer's comments, I think the Aussie plan has been to place tons of pressure on the umpires and disturb the batting concentration, maybe even cause a DRS burn ,with the appeals. Back to the drawing board, cobbers!

As for a previous comment that the Aussies deserved to be ahead after Headingly, Edgebaston might well have been different had England had a full complement of fit bowlers and the Aussies were, arguably, saved by the weather at Lords. I'm looking forward to Smith's return as I'm sure he'll be fun to watch in renewing his acquaintance with J Archer Esq.

Funny shot on BBC bloke's Twitter account of Leach re-enacting his single with the rest of the England team.

There's another little video doing the rounds on Twitter where Tim Paine asks Stokes if he had hit the ball.

Stokes takes his time, looks away, takes a bit more time...... and then finally says "No" after the 15-second DRS timer had counted out... hehe

I like Roy, he’s a talented batsman, he just needs to calm down, and not try any cockamaney stupid ‘Hollywood’ shots, in an important test match. I’m all for giving him a chance, but put him mid order, with Stokes, as he hasn’t quite grasped the openers job yet.
Thing is at 90mph you play on instinct. His instinct is see ball, hit ball. It's the lateral movement that does him. I'd love to know how much cricket he plays against a red ball and of those bowlers he faces, how many of them are even close to what you'd see in a test.
Given the big difference between how he plays with the white and the red ball I'm actually wondering if he is slightly colourblind? Red and green tending to look the same as each other and all that.
That's the whole point...he's playing the same way against a red ball as he does against a white ball.....that's why he's getting out. It's just a totally different technique against a new red ball. Given you apparently haven't noticed the difference in how the two balls behave perhaps it's you that should be going to Specsavers ?!?! To put it simply....white ball does bugger all off the seam and barely swings....red ball seems a lot off the seam when new and swings when new and also when older when it starts to reverse. Bowlers love bowling with the Red Duke ball and hate bowling with the White Kookaburra Ball.

Yup, was hoping they'd roll him out for a few overs next week.

No Pope either so the team may be 'as is' (notwithstanding some changes in position maybe) unless they rest Woakes and give Curran a run perhaps.

I really feel for Jimmy, it would've been great to see him pitched against Smith.

That’s why the openers are openers. They are there to knacker the new cherry, and not get out in the process.

BBC reporting Roy and Denly to swap positions in the order. Worth a try....at least that means that all the Top 3 have made a 50 in this series which is something at least.

Me and the young fella are gibbering wrecks waiting for the next contest.

Sad about about Jimmy, but hopefully Archer might show Smith a thing or two.

I'm running out of days on holiday to witness this challenge.

I fear that could be the end for Jimmy A. Not the way he'd have wanted to bow out of a great test career....

It's not, but was becoming more and more likely.

Shame. Seeing him get his 500th was a good moment. Top player, but age gets everyone.

...and Curran too. I reckon he'll be one to watch...

...and Ollie Stone showed promise too.

Good times in that department
