Did you watch it?Feel like some of you guys are on her PR team!
But I hear she lost.
If she could sustain that level she would win a lot of matches. Obviously a huge 'if'.
Feels like you're whatever the opposite of her PR team is.

Feel like you're into schadenfreude. Each to their own I suppose although I always found that to be a very odd trait of character.Feel like some of you guys are on her PR team!
In next 5 years she will retire without another slam and will do guest commentary on Wimbledon.
You might see some positive signs in all this but she will never crack it into the elite.
She's made a boat load of money, got a slam to the name and set up for life. Tennis has been very good to her.

OK Emma did lose against the better player. But around 3 hours of matchplay is the first step. Australian Open next, so let's see.
I didn't see the match, but from what I've read it seems like she's competitive and still wants to win![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)
Agreed. She's easily a top 20 player. Just hope she gets a little luck in terms of the draw and schedule.I didn't see the match, but from what I've read it seems like she's competitive and still wants to win

The match could have been decided in 2 sets, either way.. So really tight. That's the key piece she's missing right now, match experience against top flight players.

Completely agree that she needs match sharpness right now so I don't understand her decisions to pull out of exhibition matches because she was 'sore' but to have 2 hour practice sessions instead! The match could have been decided in 2 sets, either way.. We'll find out over the next week whether she has made the correct decisions or if this is just more bluster from her and her camp!
Here's the latest BBC article on her - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/tennis/67943094
I just hope she stays injury free for a couple of months while she builds up her match fitness and confidence. Her protected ranking has got her into this Grand Slam Main Draw but after this she'll be in Challenger Events at a lower level with her actual ranking.
This could actually do her the world of good in terms of the player level and ability she'll be competing at and more importantly stringing a few wins together in a row.

I don't think it's that perplexing. If one is sore serving, for example, one has a 2 hour practice session working on forehand, backhand, movement, etc and avoids the serve altogether.
Can't do that kind of specific work in an exhibition match.
