Then planning

Booking for 1 April at my old club in Wilts opened at 7am today and was full by 7.05am. Meanwhile here in Wales you've been able to stroll up pretty much any time you like since it kicked off a week ago. Clubhouse still shut though so no beers after mad

Tinnys left in the boot of the car - worked over winter (before they closed the course) but likely more of a problem now its warmer - may need to take a cool box.

Last year our course put an airstream next to the 18th green and was doing "takeaway" pints as soon as it got warmer - hope they're doing similar this time around!

Have noticed that my back troubles have come back along with the golf so am going to bite the bullet and get an electric trolley. Don't need GPS as I use a rangefinder so am looking at the base £500 Powakaddy FX3 or Motocaddy S1/M1. How do these firms stack up against each other reliability wise?
ETA to delete CT6 GPS error.

Haven't run either myself, but it was notable at our club that the bulk of people were using Motocaddy trollies. I've got the Cube Push Trolley and it has been really good, easy to push and compatible with all of the attachments Motocaddy do. If you're going for the matching bags Motocaddy do seem to do better here also.

Thanks Bodhi, I do already have a push trolley but find it's hardly less tiring than carrying. Plus I doubt it would fit in my club locker. That will I guess be an issue with an electric trolley too unless I go for one of the new ultra-collapsible ones. I do like the idea of being able to leave everything bar the battery at the club.

Bought a CT6 GPS this week, mainly so it collapses small enough to fit in my Exige (I hope). I can't comment on current reliability (likely about the same) but when I worked in a golf shop a decade ago the PowerKaddy's were a little more reliable.

Thanks Kiethton I'll have a look, if it fits in your Exige it should certainly fit in my humble MX-5, although thinking about it the Mazda's boot is quite shallow.

My father in law who is a bit of a badge snob, swares by Powerkaddy. Won't buy any other makes. Despite having had 4 or 5 over the last 20 years that have all needed multiple repairs and eventually broken.

I'm sure they all have problems, but in my experience powerkaddy seem to be unreliable for what they cost.

Zero hope of the boot - I'm thinking more on the passenger bucket (with the bag in front of it going into the footwell)

If the MX5 is like the 2000 model year I had access to last year the CT6 would go in the boot without issue I'd have thought - fully compacted its H: 510mm W: 425mm D: 375mm, smaller if you separate the wheels

My club closed down in September last year so a friend managed to book a Tee Time for 10am at his local club with me as his guest. A recently refurbished course has memberships available so I've got a complimentary round on Thursday to test out the place.

Meanwhile my beloved old course sits there empty awaiting the houses to be built on it!

What a shame, I know a few that have closed to make way for HS2 as well. My place is only allowing 2 in advance and as many on the day bookings as you want, I really don’t like booking but I think it’s here to stay. Our overly cautious manager probably won’t sanction any form of refreshments until May 17th or later, she told me last year that she wanted to protect the club from any potential litigation in the event of covid deaths!

The Cube and my accompanying Motocaddy bag fit perfectly in the boot of a 1 Series Coupé if that helps?

Ours is an '04, once I've emptied Mrs B's sundry items out of it it's quite spacious.

My friend is a pro at a golf club and deals with both stock, when it came for the time for me to get one he recommended Powakaddy (ended up with the FW7s) he said they were much better battery and customer service wise.

Being honest, I don't think you can go wrong with either of the ones you have mentioned, I would go for whichever you can get the best deal on.

Thanks, I'll be buying blind by post from AG most likely as there are no mega deals on either of these brands and I may as well make use of AG's interest-free credit.

I got mine from Online Golf (an American golf brand) - about £2 cheaper normally, but Quidco had a 7% (may have been 8%) cashback link so I did it through that - should see me get ~£50 back whenever it comes through, if it doesn't I've not lost anything

ETA its 8.71% cashback via Online Golf at the moment - just checked
