Johnsons gone.

If Punter fails to make runs in the second innings then his career is at an end.

poms lots, crims fk all. frown
Although the tactic for next dig is looking obvious.. turn the batting order around and open with Mitch & Siddle. Huss & Hadds still sit in the middle order and Pup & Punter can bring in the tail

268/9

From 68/5 to that is a good effort. 50 runs too many there.

I guess you don't have the internet...(or are being ironic beyond belief.

268 ALL OUT. Not a bad recovery from where they will be. I reckon Punter had a plan to get the Pom openeres back in on the first pitch whilst the wicket is still moving...

You may not beleive it, but i only have access to pistonheads, Google images, maps and news (which runs about 10-15 mins behind) between 9 and 5.

Thanks for the update...

At least Johnson's got some runs. Are we taking bets on whether Punter will be Captain in Melbourne?

I want Straussy to get in the ton club now. In the nicest possible way: time to grind them into the dust...

Come on lads....they're batting very positively. 30 mins til close.

From what I saw this morning Tremlett bowled very well. Australia did well to post 268 after that start.

Anyone else see the verbals between Jimmy A and Johnson as Jimmy was going back to his mark ? Jimmy's answer was beautiful....bowled Harris next ball.

Awesome, foot on throat stuff from England.

Still laughing about Shane Warne's pre match "analysis" about Englands complacency and the great Aussie battling spirit. I don't think he will be chairman of selectors anytime soon.

Whither now the lucky countries sons ?

Come on boys lets stuff them outta sight....

A good days work from England, though I was a little disappointed the Aussies got to 260-odd. Still, the damage is done and their middle order cannot keep digging the top 4 out of the mire.
Hats off to Hussey and Haddin - well played.

Has Johnson been brought back in for his batting? wink

Englands day. Let's continue batting well tomorrow, and on Friday and the Aussies will be bringing back the Waugh brothers.

Could the Ashes be retained before 'Sports personality of the Year' is broadcast on Sunday night?

Where can we vote for team of the year again....????

I think it jus shows that any gremlins or movement come with the new ball, and it last for about 25 overs, then you make runs. Whilst we have Swann in this form the middle and tail can't get away too far, Swann getting Hussey was vital.

Luckily we have proven openers, not a patch up cobbled together pair. Remember when OZ had Hayden and Langer walking out, just such a confident pair to see off the New Ball. Doesn't Hayden have a triple at the Waca ?

If Strauss and Cook can get through the next 10 overs tomorrow then we will be holding the urn by Sunday night.

Its not bad.

2.5 dys of batting now please chaps.

Am I right in thinking that Strauss, Cook and Figjam are all nearing the top of the leaderboard in English test tons? They are all into double figures and teens arent they?
