Slight over reaction I think - had Farrell kicked the 3 pointer last week Eng would still be in it.
Quite. The mindset on here owes a lot to the tabloids: black or white with no greyscale in the middle. Australia won the Championship, which by most people's measure makes them the best of the top three sides in the world. They've always been dangerous in open play and highly competitive in the loose. Their scrum is now bloody impressive, and they are more than just highly competitive in the loose. Oh, and their backs are still brilliant. England weren't st, but it didn't really matter how well they played because Australia are just comfortably better in every department - not just better than England, but the vast majority of teams in the world.
You can't do well in international rugby without a decent back row and any side that has to play Robshaw at 7 and brings on a pensioner like Easter is bereft of talent.
Boy do we need a flying 7 and a dynamic ball-playing 8. I bet the fifth choice Kiwi open side would walk into our team.

But that's the whole point they don't think as a team instead of thinking go for a possible draw playing the long game they think they are that good to score a try they haven't looked like doing in the previous 30 mins.We had a similar problem that individual players trying to make a name for themselves instead of playing the team game maybe the English need to start doing the same.

If only England had a superb openside playing in France.Boy do we need a flying 7 and a dynamic ball-playing 8. I bet the fifth choice Kiwi open side would walk into our team.
Not having him in the squad was madness, the Aus backrow steamrollered them for the entire first half tonight.

Many teams would have considered going for a try there. It is likely that a couple of the Eng guys discussed the options before deciding to go for the try. The kick wasn't a gimme IIRC.
All ifs and buts, but I don't understand the clamour to bad mouth the team and manager (the same that had beaten Aus in their previous 2 matches I think). As fans and a team you just dust yourself off and do better next time - but kneejerk sackings aren't good for anybody.

It wasn't kicking for the corner that was the poor decision - as so wonderfully illustrated by Japan against South Africa - it was the decision to then put it straight to the front of the lineout. Many teams would have considered going for a try there. As for kneejerk reactions, calling for Lancaster's head, I'd say it's actually the opposite, and people should be asking how he has managed to pull the wool over everyone's eyes for so long? The team hasn't won anything with him in charge, and coming second in the Six Nations on a regular basis isn't something that England should find acceptable.
Poite is a madman as a ref, but Robshaw seemed unable to cope with him in any capacity. Pity though England, it's bad news for any tournament to lose the hosts, especially early on
Cheika and the Aussies scare the hell out of me from an Irish point of view. If they repair their line-out issues then everyone else left is in trouble

Probably because they've capitulated at hq twice on the bounce to get dumped out of their own world cup and have won nothing under Lancaster in 4 years despite having the most money and the largest pool of players in the northern hemisphere. And breathe.
