Managed to win today! 2 years since I last won, but got over the line today. 34 points, won on countback.

Played really well on the front 9 (38 gross), let it slip a bit on the back but did enough.

Happy!

Cheers! Only a small cut of 0.3, was hoping to get 0.6 to get me down to 12.8 but nevermind - next time!

Played Castle Stuart twice and Royal Dornoch over the weekend. Apart from a wet beginning to Dornoch on Saturday, glorious weather and great fun.

Fantastic hospitality from the team at Castle Stuart. Stayed in one of their self catering properties and nothing was too much trouble.

Had an eagle put on the 18th on Sunday, which of course was missed, but a birdie for an 18 handicapper on the 54th hole was a great way to end the trip.

Treated myself to a Ping G400 crossover. 3 iron (19 degrees). Brand new unmarked on eBay, £120.

I can't stand my hybrid anymore, so it's gone.

Tour 85 Stiff shaft, blue dot to match my current irons.

Hoping it's going to be a new 230yard fairway finder...

First chance in 3 weeks that I might get a round in this afternoon and it’s pissing down! Ah well clubs are in the van anyway see what happens. Currently trying out different courses locally to decide which one to join as someone new to golf looking to start playing at club level.

Might be a range day instead today though!

Played in the first medal of the year on Saturday, started well with a birdie down the first but couldn't get the hang of the greens on the day (far better on Monday typically!!!) but then started finding blocked (by trees etc) shots and making silly putting mistakes, still managed 3 birdies for the day however. Ended up finishing +13 for the round so +5 net and went up to 8.5...

Have the extra shot to help me for the bigger 2 day competition this weekend at least!

Our greens have just had the hollow tining done which has made them somewhat unpredictable.

The greens at Blatch were being spiked and sanded on Tuesday, this meant the 11 hole evening comp was cancelled so I played a fun round at the Head with a mate instead and got my best score ever. I'm off 26 and went round in 90 shots for 43 points with NO blobs, never done that before.

In the six weeks since the Penthouse was pretty well finished I've had more spare time and managed to play more often. I'm up to 2/3 rounds a week and have scored between 33 and 39 points in my last few rounds up there with as many as six pars but the blobs have always kept the overall points down.

I'm just beginning to feel that I'm starting to get somewhere with the game, I'm using the driver less and the three wood more, distance is still my problem, especially at Blatch where there are very few pa fours i can reach in two but I'm working hard on getting my approach shots into the green right to compensate.

My golf plan this year is to do more competitions and try to get a cut, I should be playing one today but my back went yesterday and felt awful this morning so I'm laying here in pain, bored and writing this instead.

Made an eagle on Wednesday. Tounnerbury Golf Club on Hayling Island... not a bad 9 hole course.

Hole 6 470yd par 5.... driver ~250yds left me ~215yds in, so I was going to lay up and my mate said "go for it". So i pulled my 23º hybrid out which shouldn't really go that far but I think I must have smoked it, and the wind was behind us. Ended up pin high left of the green. Pulled my 52º wedge and chipped it in.... one bounce and it donked straight in the hole..

Never to happen again :-)

Congrats on the eagle, its nice when that happens. As you say, it may never happen again!

I played for the first time yesterday after being of since 23 April after pulling a muscle in my chest (upper right side).

I was defo not swinging as hard as I usually would, but managed an 82 - which I am really pleased with. Going out again tmr to see what happens then.

Weekend 2 day competition for me....first day was woeful (mix of a few bad shots but also putting), second day I was +13 (off 9!) but had 10, yes 10 3 putts! 4 from within 15ft, 4 horseshoes over the weekend....

Lines were good, just sent everything about 6-8ft past the hole, when I left the pin in the ball stunned and jumped out (from in!)

Really need to get on the putting green, thing is when warming up etc it was spot on and I was a demon :/

Had a great golf weekend! Played in a club match at Woburn on Saturday, what a great course, a real treat to play there on a lovely sunny day. Then played my course yesterday, 36pts, nothing amazing but nice to break the slide of 10 point 1's on the bounce over the last few weeks!!
Then watched the British Masters..... is it me or was Matt Wallace putting in a challenge for Tyrrell Hatton's title of stroppiest blame-anything-but-yourself cock on the tour!?

Had a great day on Sunday - 36 holes foursomes match play with lunch in between.

Managed a half in the morning despite giving away 6 shots, and won 3&2 in the afternoon whilst giving away 5 shots.

Overall we won 17.5 -11.5. Happy days!

He lipped out at least 3 puts on that final round, so I understand his frustration but his behaviour was poor.

The disappointment in the crowd was evident, when Kinault beat 3 Brits by one stroke on the final hole. There was some very polite British clapping but it seemed a bit of an anti-climax!
