Raiders fan here. Looking forward to tonight's game (or should that be tomorrow morning?) though I think I'm actually going to have to get up and fire up the tv in order to record via Red Button? Not quite sure why it can't be on one of the HD channels given it's silly o'clock in the morning and BBC HD is probably showing 'This is BBC HD'.

I don't have Sky Sports, so I'm restricted to C4 and BBC but I have the NFL audio pass subscription for the second year running. I couldn't justify the full Game pass and my computers are pretty low spec so it would be wasted, but the audio commentary works for me. Also, Tom Flores and Jim Plunkett on the Raider commentary team, what's not to love? smile

Listened to the pre-season games and ... well, we'll have to see. rolleyes

Gamepass is much cheaper this year. But still got to be quite dedicated I guess.

I hadn't realised the price had come down, but I'm more restrained on time this year. As for dedication ... when I first started listening to the comentaries, I was easily distracted and would lose track of what was happening. So I started making notes on every play, which left me with a better idea of the overall shape of a game. boxedin

Its one thing Pat Kirwan has always espoused. Start by making basic notes of every snap and then bulk it out as you get more and more comfortable. Always astounds me how people who watch the game for a living manage to seemingly ignore the snap ut still keep track of everything that is happening.

It's going to be another loooong, painfully depressing season. Time for Marvin to move on - the team is just not disciplined enough under his management - and never really has been. Our division is a tough one. Having to play (and get hammered by) Baltimore and Pittsburg twice per season pretty much set's us up for failure every year, the way Marvin lets our predominantly thug team throw opportunities away due to poor ethic.

Yup, got his book, 'Take Your Eye Off The Ball'. When I'm watching now, I find it relatively easy to be aware of the snap in peripheral vision while watching the O- or D-line. Listening means I can only take very basic notes, but stillmakes me feel more involved and I learn far more about the game. smile

Just finished watching the Broncs vs Steelers game I had on record. Was Manning really that close to his career finishing? I think he just fancied a rest because there was absolutely NO evidence yesterday that he was anything but in the zone. He must have spend his 2 years literally just watching the pass rushers and defences to look for ways to unlock them.

Will be interesting to see how his body copes with a team that can get to him a few times BUT if Troy P is struggling and being read like hes sent a telegram then I cant see many guys getting to him to exert that sort of pressure. I like the Broncs and it looks like they hard finally but a jewell in their crown.

If you read all the surgery that he's had I think it's pretty safe to say that he was mightily close to having to end his career.

I've read somewhere that during his rehab he was so embarrassed at how poor he could throw a spiral that he'd be throwing in car parks with friends rather than at the team facility.

My OH's dad summed it up pretty well I thought - they're a mob who need a drill sergent, not a coach.

Personally, I think Marvin's a couple of years overdue being booted on the face of it, but the real problems are that they're mired in Mike Brown's ownership. I know he's given Marvin more power in the last couple of years, but they're still in desperate need of a GM, and an owner who's prepared to dip into his pockets a bit more often and pulls out something more than nickels and dimes.
Look how long the UC Bearcats have had a proper indoor training facility / practice bubble for the winter training camps and the Bengals haven't - speaks volumes.

Big Redskin's fan of old. Still remember watching John 'the diesel' Riggins help em to a superbowl win in 82. Glad they have finally drafted a decent QB! He looked good in the opener. Hail to the Redskins!

He did look great on his first start, although on second viewing his receivers helped a lot snagging some errant passes.

Was away last weekend so only just caught up after watching F1, Nascar and the 3 NFL games I recorded.

My Pack don't look too good, but we always start slow.

Broncos looked good, and I agree about Peyton. He was good already, a year off with nothing to do but study defensive looks and plays? He'll be unstoppable

Been a pretty good day for it today, some spectacular TDs so far - Bengals and the Colts winning on the same day is one of the signs of the apocalypse isn't it? hehe

Not a bad day for them so far - some stonking plays by RG3.

Maybe I shouldn't have mentioned the Redskins hehe Great game as a neutral spectator though - last few minutes of the 4th bode well.

Was at the Texans @ Jaguars game today. Was great, Still waiting on the Jaguars to turn up!

It's a huge spectacle, marching bands, fly overs, cheer leaders. The lot.

Texans looked okay, Foster is a machine! Or were the Jaguars particularly bad! I'm not sure yet as I was pretty drunk by half time!

Jags are awful. Texans should still walk the AFC South though. Looking forward to seeing them on TV and interested to see what Wade Phillips has done with the D (traditional Achilles heel) presume that Wade is till the DC?

Yup, enjoying a football-fest here biggrin

Redzone has been brilliant so far - really impressed with Sky's coverage of the NFL so far this year, very nicely done. Redzone is awesome, why didn't I know about this sooner?!

In terms of the games, can't wait to see Packers vs 49ers, but there's far too much going on to comment on anything specifically. The fast version is:
- go packers
- colts look terrible
- WTF saints?!
Haven't looked at the Redzone yet but from what I hear it is excellent, switching between multiple games.

In case anyone is interested, there is a thread here
http://forum.nfluk.com/showthread.php?t=92055
which explains how to record the Red Zone on a Sky+ box - I intend to try this at the weekend and will let you know if it works.
