Managed about 10 minutes but the inane and incessant drivel coming from the Irish wicketkeeper made me turn it off.
Wish an umpire sometimes would step in with this crap as it was monotonous, offputting (the point I suppose) and utterly ruined the experience of watching as a fan
It cant have any effect on geeing up players surely as it is the same thing every ball if it was me I would tell him to STFU, even if he was on my team!.

Perhaps he's trying the "Warner" scam of trying to get the stump mics turned down or off - the Reverend David Warner kept swearing, and calling out the names of companies who were competitors to the series sponsors to get the mics turned right down. After which, the level and intensity of sledging increased.Wish an umpire sometimes would step in with this crap as it was monotonous, offputting (the point I suppose) and utterly ruined the experience of watching as a fan

I can't remember when this was, but it was recent, and preceded the sandpaper issue, in which Warner played a prominent role.
I have been reading back on Hales and Stokes.
Why is it that Aussie Cricket can accept that people fk up and after their suspension they can rejoin the World Cup team [although the Barmy Army will give them hell!]; yet English cricket can't accept the same principle.
To me it seems that the the ECB and some of the "senior" players don't like outliers and can't wait for the chance of eliminating them from the team. Yes, the likes of Hales has done wrong but has served his sentence.
This could have a big impact on England and the World stage.

Warner is a totally nasty piece of work, the worst kind of Australian. Most of them play hard and party hard, but this guy is just a nasty man.
Just don't need his type in the game, regardless of how good he bats.
Hales is just a footballer playing cricket, looks a bit of a chav, seemingly thinks he can handle himself and also hasn't learned his lesson.
I have no sympathy at all I am afraid, to be in that privileged position, this year of years and to do something so stupid tells you all you need to know about him, selfish, dumb and rather thick.

It is not a one of with Alex, he just doesn’t learn
One of those, I want everything whenever I want it, and if you take something away its unfair, regardless of my behavior.
A proper man child.

I don’t need to like someone to enjoy their sporting achievements, but he was told how to behave and didn’t listen, seems he never listens.

Bear in mind footballers get banned for months if found to have cocaine in their system. Adrian Mutu got a 7 month ban and had his contract with Chelsea torn up after testing positive for cocaine back in the early 00s. Rio Ferdinand got an eight month ban for failing to provide a test sample.
Hales is been punished because he seems incapable of behaving in a manner befitting a member of the England Cricket Team.

I think that the ECB used to have a more draconian approach to failed recreational drug tests (like the football examples posted above) but they were revised following the death of Tom Maynard.
Maynard was killed by a train when he ran from the Police who spotted him driving erratically. Maynard was well over the drink drive limit and had taken cocaine and ecstasy. There was some concern at the ECB that Maynard may have taken the risk of crossing a railway line because he feared that, if he had been arrested and tested positive for drugs, his playing career would be over. Whilst players should not take drugs the penalty for doing so should not be so severe that someone is prepared to risk death.
As a result the ECB issued new penalties for failing a drug test.
1st offence - letter to County Medical Officer and put in contact with rehabilitation and counselling services
2nd offence - 21 day ban
3rd offence - both County and ECB can tear up player's contract
Hales had 2 failed tests so was automatically banned for 21 days. To protect his privacy this was described as being unavailable for "personal reasons". However, given the expose of his infidelity on tour in Caribbean this alerted the press that there was probably more to the story and they dug up the information on the drug test.
I think his complaints (via his management) of harsh treatment illustrate just how immature his behaviour has been and continues to be.
