Local rule for the US PGA apparently, range finders are allowed. Definitely something they should do more often imo.
Fair play to Bobby Mac as well, good tournament finished off with quite the eagle on the last.

Bryson just lasered a yardage off the tee?! Never knew they could do that/ never seen a pro do it in a comp

Schauffele won that well, 6 foot putt for birdie to win with Bryson on the range for your first major, his heart must have skipped a beat as the ball went half way round the lip before dropping.
Quality performance, Bryson is probably my favourite golfer to watch he brings excitement and comes across very well on his YT they need to resolve the LIV vs PGA and eligibility for the majors.

Solid performance from Schauffele under that pressure. Especially after last week.
A 5 year exemption from the majors has just put his price up!
I still don’t like Bryson, even after watching a couple of his YT vids. There is just something about him I find a bit off. Maybe it’s the pseudo science bks.

I had another knockout match yesterday. Both of us off the same HC so no shots to worry about.
I should have won fairly comfortably, but a couple of three stabs and my opponent holing three long range putts kept him in the game.
Long story short, we went down the last (par 5) all square.
We both hit good drives, my opponent blocked his layup which looked like it went into either deep rough or a penalty area. I hit a good layup to bang on 100 yards. Perfect with the pin bang in the middle of the green.
My opponent somehow ended up in a perfect lie with a perfect distance for his wedge and hit a great shot to 25ft. Having not been behind in the match I did feel a bit of pressure on my approach, the thought did enter my my it would be a very golfy thing to lose on the last. But then I thought, he can’t hole everything, and I’ve holed nothing, so just get this inside his and put a bit of pressure back on him.
I didn’t hit the best shot ever, but gave myself 20ft up hill with a hint of left to right.
My opponent hit another great put and 3ft away it looked like it was going in, but dived right as it lost pace and just missed. I had an opportunity.
I hit a perfect putt that started a ball outside left, it rolled end over end and into the middle of the hole at a perfect pace for a birdie and to win the match
I’ve got a 4 man scramble at Ely tomorrow which will no doubt take 5 hours of my life that I won’t get back and a 3rd round better ball knock out with my lad on Friday.

Agreed, that second shot on 18 especially from a hanging lie was superb, no idea how he didn't duck hook that off the planet. Not Xanders biggest fan , but fair play to the guy.A 5 year exemption from the majors has just put his price up!

Well played in the match too!
I played the 1st round of the Yorkshire Foursomes on Friday evening. Played against 2 guys, one was scratch and the other was +2.
We did OK but lost 4&3, a fair result.
It's a tough format and I was absolutely knackered. I'd played 7 times in May by the 17th, with 6 of those being either a comp or Matchplay.
I'm gonna have a week off and try to recoup some energy as my Garmin was telling me I've been running on fumes since Tuesday last week (slept for 11 hours Saturday night)

I played there back in 2022. Only my 3rd ever round of golf so I couldn't really comment on how challenging it was but the scenery was absolutely gorgeous. Bit jealous, tbh, I want to go back!shiftydave said:

Also, AimPoint needs to die a very slow death. Ok on longer putts but watching Hovland go through the process for a 3 footer was painful.
I don’t get why it bothers people. It’s no slower than having a look from both ends. I can’t see subtle breaks with my eyes. Never have been able to. I can feel them with my feet though, so I give myself a better chance of holing those short but missable ones. Gassing Station | Sports | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
