So far McClaren has made two big decisions, to drop Beckham and to use a 3-5-2 formation.

Well considering the percentage of goals that come from set pieces in international football a place for Beckham in the squad even if he doesn't start automatically seem sensible

Sven was criticized for religiously sticking with 4-4-2, maybe he understood that was the formation that England players are always familiar with.

I also see a surprising amount of support for Venables. A man who never lead England in a successful qualifying campaign and whose results in the Euro 96, with one exception weren't particularly impressive.

Hmmmm..... the pundits are slagging off the formation, but not one has mentioned the loss of Owen Hargreaves who has been our best player of late... his absense must have unsettled the midfield and exposed the defence.
yes As per Saturday`s game, Hargreaves was badly missed.

Ashley Cole gets injured.. commentator commends him on not going off and leaving us one man down for the set piece.. in the resulting sequence of play, his lack mobility meant he allowed the Brazilian (?) striker to attack the ball whilst he didn't get off the ground.. 1-0!

The second goal was just sheer incompetence.. first Robbo should have repaired the divot, second Gary Neville should have played the goal wide of the goal.. school boy errors.. 2-0!

As for McClaren, still early days and the wing back formation he was trying got Sir Bobby to a world cup semi-final, when he changed the formation mid tournament.. the current players are over paid, over rated, primadonnas!!

Oh and before everyone gets too carried away hanging the management.. Croatia have never lost a home qualifier!!!!!...... and apparently Ashley Cole told the bench that he was ok to carry on.. what a dickhead!!!

This just about sums it up for me - I can't believe Neville (I'm not a fan anyway) all he did in the match was receive the ball, flounder with it a bit and then pass it back to someone else to deal with it. This guy is supposed to be an experienced international but he looked so uncomfortable on the ball - what a dickhead

It's a bit like our education or transport systems and any associated studies thereinto, designed to measure the might of Blighty but which invariably, conclude with damning, far from comfortable verdicts, indicating a tendancy to be sh1t and altogether crumblesome.

We are just average and happen to have an independant nuclear capability.

The end.

If I could weep, I would but the last tears have long since departed.
