Missed that - is it easy to summarise?
They've put it up on the website. It's the banter that makes listening to TMS so much more enjoyable.

What do you think spikey, is the fact that we are now on something like Cooks 11th opening partner indicate that ODI and T20 is starting to catch up with Test cricket. We just can't someone with the powers of concentration and judgement required for an opener ?

We seem to have plenty of options for "lower order hitters" eg 5 to 8. But 2 and 3 just don't seem to be in fashion.

Give him the Windies tour to try and prove himself but after that he's got to go IMO. Stoneman deserves a chance for me.

Problem is, if he continues to fail and against Windies, arguably an easier prospect, you're dropping his replacement in cold versus the crims.

Indeed, I know that Jennings made runs in the subcontinent, but that's a very different form of the game. Everyone has now seen Jennings flaws, and it's not too difficult to expose them.

True, its a tough one. Doesn't help with the crowd cheering every time he made contact with the ball this morning (Jennings).

100% IMO.

I don't think he should have been playing in this match. I don't think finding a decent no2 is going to be easy - we've been looking for a couple of years now. Having 4 test matches to give one or more a go would have been better than 3.

Would be nice to see Malan put a proper shift in and Roland-Jones build on The Oval.

Dull Attrition - very necessary in the context of a five day match and a slight rebuild having lost a couple cheaply. But ... not my favourite moments.

Am currently just keeping tabs on the internet now and then and even that's boring with the run rate! smile

Malan gone... just when I was starting to enjoy dull attritional cricket again...

Not a great display so far. We need YJB, Stoke and The beard to dig out the top order once again.

Bugger. If Stokes had kept in overnight I'd have thought the day was reasonably OK, perhaps edged by SA.

Still, we have some people who can bet left. Come on Roland-Jones.

I think the issue is more the quality of the county game. Neither Jennings or Stoneman have amazing averages even at county level which is an issue. Not sure on Stonemen but Jennings technique isn't great so when your playing quality bowlers your going to get found out pretty quickly.
Issue is do you cut and run and try someone else or try and stick with Jennings against WI and then if he fails again your blooding someone new against Aus which could be horrific.

Change him. Now.

We should be trying Stoneman in this test. Having said that, and I've not seen a sideways view of Jenning's dismissal, but he did look to have better footwork to the ball that got him out than in previous matches.

Jennings technique is definitely the issue. I'm not sure he can improve for England unless that's sorted and that's pretty poor for a county cricketer.

Who is ready for day 2? Going for a better day today as yesterday was a little flat. Hoping for 350/400 and then take 4/5 South African wickets before home time.

Ah man thats cruel out on 99 batted brilliantly and turned down runs to keep the stike.

Fair play to Andersen who knows his job. Broad is a brainless twit in comparison. Still reasonable effort.

Hopefully Broad can show why he is on the team with the ball in hand !

Isn't that two in a row where Bairstow hasn't been good enough to stay in with Jimmy?
