This article has LF explain that she didn’t know what was happening/know the rules but also she claims that she only lost because she was making mistakes. Confirms in my mind that she is a bad loser. During the presentation she seemed a bit petulant as if her “rightful” victory had been stolen from her.

In my opinion my comment is nonsense. She must have been playing a different match as the one I saw Emma was on the front foot and being the aggressor much more of the time. That seems to be backed up by the stats as Emma had more winners as well as fewer errors and won 12 more points. Really it should have been 6-4 6-2. It wasn’t really that close.

Watching her being interviewed and sending a message to her grandmother in native, not just fluent, Mandarin was very impressive.

No surprise that she has that command of Mandarin, but really - could she be any more suited to global stardom?

Yes, a bit too self-entitled to me also.

She was well beaten.

What's the difference between the Duke of York and Emma Raducanu?

Emma Raducanu likes U.S. courts.

I wonder if LF would have been more magnanimous had she lost to a more established opponent?

She’s clearly very talented but losing to someone even younger and less experienced must have been quite galling.

I’m sure she will reach many more finals and win a few of them.

I think more Raducanu v Fernandez matches will be box office from now on - Even though they have set their own competitive bar very high already...!

There are higlights of a 2018 Wimbledon Juniors match on YouTube. Only a couple of minutes, but they have played each other before. It looks like Emma won that as well.

Lots of info here...

https://www.lta.org.uk/about-us/tennis-news/news-a...

And a long video of the 'Battle of the Brits', a 2020 UK competition that bought a lot of UK players together to give them some much needed competition; The clip is towards the end of the day and shows a young British woman Jodie Burrage playing doubles alongside Singles Grand Slam Champion Andy Murray, and Emma playing alongside Doubles Grand Slam Champion Joe Salisbury - at that time both Ladies were relative unknowns, but the competition gave them the experience of playing alongside and against much more established players.

Depressing if predictable article on the BBC news last night which raved on and on about how much she was now worth as a marketable commodity.

Interesting also seeing people like Farage and similar types try and jump on the bandwagon after years of anti Romanian comments.

Good or bad, she’s now become far much more than just a tennis player.

I'm waiting for the Hollywood movie for her rise to stardom.
They should frame the final like the ending of the original Karate Kid film.

Hostile opponent, then last minute injury and threat of forfeit.
Substitute the crane kick for the match winning ace all with an exaggerated limp and all her dreams come true.

I'd watch it biggrin

The fact is it's true, but looking at her and hearing what she says, she seems to have good people around her who she can trust. Emma is a very intelligent young lady and despite her charm and infectious smile I don't think she'll suffer fools gladly.
She needs to keep those who just want to "Jump on the Raducanu money-train" in order to just make an income in any ruthless way possible, because they will be out there...

Yep, and with A's in A level maths and economics I think she's got her head screwed on when it comes to money....and her parents probably have as well, so she should be in a better position than many.
