Bet Tongue is buzzing on his debut.
Almost as much as that Worcester pub landlord who laid that bet on Tongue playing for England years back when Josh was still only 11 yrs old.

£100 @ 500/1.

It must be an amazing feeling for the likes of Tounge, Duckett, and Pope.

3 wickets on your first ever England Test, at Lords

First century on home turf, at Lords

Maiden double century, at LORDS

Those have to be pretty close to the top of individual pinnacles in the sport don't they, and all young people.

Can't imagine what it must be like. It's fking great to just watch it on TV

But crazy not to have either Bairstow or Stokes bat !

First time in test history a non wicketkeeping captain has won a match having neither Batted or Bowled.. (so far)

Will he even take the ball?

Yes, but a bit pointless against Ireland who appear to be worse than a 2nd county XI.

You have to give teams like Ireland test matches. You can’t bring them on, bring them into the international game, encourage their growth if you don’t give them games.
They also damn humiliated Eng a few yrs ago in a test game.
They have beaten England in the limited overs formats.

Agreed. I recall when Bangladesh started in test cricket and they were totally stuffed quite regularly. Iirc they’ve now beaten every test side they’ve played.

Yep, true. Certainly not a quick process though, they’ve been in the test game as long as I can remember but only somewhat recently considered a challenging team to face. But, clearly worth it in the end to get another nation up to the level.

This won’t last much longer. Pretty annoying given I’m stuck at home post ACL surgery and was looking forward to at least another day of cricket watching.

Fair play, putting up a fight here which I didn’t expect. Might even have to record it for a couple of hours and watch the FA cup.

Is Stokes going to do something fun for the second innings. Him and Bairstow open maybe?

Wasn’t worth it, dispatched !

Good for the crowd, a decent amount of play and time to get a couple in the pub on the way home.

India v Aussies starting on wed, at the Oval, in the world test final.
Should be a good game

Yes that will be a good watch. I binned Sky Cinema for Sports last year and really glad I did. Getting my moneys worth.

Well that was harder work that it should have been.

Also, why are sporting nicknames always so ridiculous? Stokes in his BBC interview referencing Popey, Ducky and Tonguey...

The nicknames in (english) cricket are always lame, add a Y
"Chef" is about as imaginative as they get

Totally off topic - I didn't realise you could just bin the Sky Cinema. I always understood that if you wanted Sports you would up with everything. We never watch the movies so if we can bin that to save some money we'll do it!
