Not tried anything like that, to be fair - my wedges tend to be a little more conventional.
It's a weird looking thing but, if it's conforming and if it works for the player, then why not ?
I think the Alien wedge is very similar, but may represent a cheaper alternative if you fancied trying something with a fat sole and high bounce.

Hi all, hope you don't mind me posting here, rather than starting a new thread. I'll try and describe my swing based on what I've learned on the lessons that I had.
I've been practising my swing and I can't seem to nail it. I feel like I have my balance on the balls of my feet, they're the correct distance apart. I have a comfortable grip on the club and I've stopped hunching over the ball, so my back is more straight and my bottom is pushed out with my knees slighly bent. This all feels comfortable now, but I struggle with the rotation, when my shoulder is under my chin I seem to have bent my arms and struggle with rotating my hips. I seem to move out of place. I'm thinking of having lessons with another instructor. Not that the original lessons were at fault, as it's obviously me, but I'm wondering if they'll notice something different. Or help in another way. I've been reading online and there does appear to be information overload. I think I'm overthinking the swing and thinking about where my shoulder is and to rotate, rather than just doing it.

I've been practising a lot recently (once a week) and playing on Thursday I really noticed an improvement. The first two holes were terrible shooting 9's but I got my head together and settled down then went on to make 3 pars and scored 38 points (off a 36 handicap).
I struggled on the greens for a while as they were very fast and firm and they had been rolled with the big spikes so were full of holes making the ball bounce. It was hard to stop the ball on the green so often I rolled off the back from a close approach.
Overall I was very happy with the round and shot 110. My main thing k was concentrating on keeping my head still and maintaining a slow backswing.
Hopefully soon I'll be playing in the men's handicap range.

If you don't feel like you're getting anywhere with your current instructor, find another one. They all teach differently and the style of another one night will suit you better. Find another local pro, preferably by recommendation from someone, and have a chat to them. Explain your frustrations. It sounds a bit like you're swinging with half a dozen thoughts in your mind, which will never end well. Sometimes it's one simple "swing thought" that transforms everything.
For me it was the feeling of not straightening my right knee in the back swing. I used straighten it out completely and it made it hard for me to get weight on to my front foot and led to a lot of fat and thin shots. I now coil against a solid right leg and find I get a much better descending strike.
I've overheard certain pro's at my local range talking to their students, and the way they teach would baffle me. A different thought after every swing and constant information overload. I like to keep it simple.
Whatever you do, don't give up. It'll click one day and suddenly start improving. It's very satisfying when that happens.
After some advice chaps.
Back playing after at least 5 years away from the game and God the equipment has moved on. I'm looking for a hybrid to fill the gap between my 5 wood (225 yards) and my 4 iron (205 yards)
I don't carry a 3 iron as I'm too inconsistent with it.
The hybrids ive seen online don't seem to give any indication as to,what iron they're supposed to replace. Any ideas what it is I'm looking for?
Cheers.

If you hit your 5 wood well I'm not sure I'd bother. I'd probably just grip it down an inch or two and put an extra wedge in your bag. Next time you hit it on the course, do an extra ball and got the same shot gripped down two inches. See if you can get a feel for what distance it takes off.

Don't be afraid to switch teachers, if you're thinking that much over the ball, I would say that your current pro is not right for you.
