Robovic out. Fingers crossed for a new winner this year.

Looking like a Nadal Federer final at the moment surely?

Federer looked a bit shaky in the early rounds but then just destroyed Evans and Goffin and Nadal seems in good form as well.

Anyones tournament to win now I think, I feel Monfils is a dark horse for the title. Rafa is the obvious one but I wouldn't be surprised if his patellar issues flare up in the next round. Schwartzman playing really well so it'll be a match.

I dearly hope the Canadian comes out and gets the job done on Saturday in crushingly spectacular style. I only worry about potential nerves for the big occasion combined with all the attention and the usual circus trying to will Serena to the title.

I think Andreescu will do well.

I want to like Medvedev but it's almost like Djokovic reborn. Insanely solid groundstrokes but such little variety. Medvedev Nadal could be back to the Djokovic - Nadal slogfests of old.

Medvedev reminds me of Davydenko. Right there at the top of the sport but no marketing appeal and could walk through an airport without anyone giving him a second look.

I like Berrettini for the title myself. Nice image, seems like a good kid. It’s a tough ask to take out Rafa then Medvedev but that’s what he’ll have to do to lift the trophy.

Down the toilet goes my £50 on Berrettini hehe

Rafa winning makes things VERY interesting. I cannot see Roger ending his career with the slam record. Rafa and Novak will both end with more, which is barely believable considering Roger has TWENTY and they've played in the same era.

Andreescu hitting the tits off the ball! So glad she’s feeling comfortable out there.

Assuming Andreescu wins, what are the odds on Serena breaking down in tears and stealing the moment of her opponent again?

ETA: Serena has no answers. Andreescu returning right at her feet. She looks like she is going to break down during the match.

Looks like she's lost it mentally.

She's lost her last 3 slam finals in straight sets - looks like this could be a 4th.

Boom, liked her reaction to the victory as well. Great mindset.

SW deserves to lose again. She makes Nick Kyrgios look like a saint in comparison.

A great player for sure but she is such a vile person in the way she behaves. Should take a leaf out of Nadal’s book on how to conduct oneself on court.

Off court hehe I think chasing the record has brought the ugly side of her character and magnified it, which is a shame as if she weren’t behaving in such a manner everyone would celebrate with her.

I've always thought that the US open is somewhere the underdogs can thrive due to it being the end of the season. Medvedev has an uncanny ability to make tennis look easy and he's able to adapt so well (out hitting Wawrinka, out lasting Djokovic etc) so I wouldn't be too surprised if he wins today.

I hope other people are watching this because it’s frankly unreal how Medvedev has adapted as the game has progressed!! How he’s reading Nadals strategy is scary good.

What a final. Watched the first two sets then thought I'd watch the 3rd (and final, I assumed) set in bed. Didn't expect to be awake until 3am. Feeling a little bit tired today. Medvedev has had a great summer, and he is one to be feared from now on. However, in true Next-Gen fashion, he's probably going to get knocked out in the first round of whatever tournament he plays in next.
