Good, although with all of the young quicks falling over with back-related long term injuries, we had little choice.
Indeed. Archer now ruled out for the rest of the season with a back stress fracture

It’s not the bowling that is the problem. Besides you could put another decade on Jimmy and abroad and I’d still back in English conditions.
The batting performances have been simply woeful. It’s the long and short of it.

He was meant to be playing for Sussex in the Blast (their first fixture is tomorrow).

Good to see that BBC2 will be having daily highlights shows for the home Tests again, starting this Thursday.

Thanks, noted.
And a surprisingly civilised 7pm start time, i'd feared it would be 11.30pm

He's 40 next month.

I note that Ben Stokes didn't bother to check Jack Leach when others did. Poor form for a skipper.

More to the point there was no tv coverage doesn’t mean he didn’t. All I saw attending were two NZ and one English doctor. Leach walked off so obviously not that serious.

Just got in and NZ are four down already.

Collapsing quicker than England have of late.

Obviously was more serious as Leach out with concussion for rest of game.

England have bowled and fielded very well so far.
Leach out for the rest of the test through concussion protocols.

Just started so had to rewind so only couple wickets down and Jack Leach just done his shoulder in! So far so good but I know the score live now so even better!

I must say I am enjoying the Stokes/Macullum era thus far.

It makes a nice change to be feeling positive about the England Test side for once.

Agreed, a good start.
Let’s not get carried away though, surely we’re all old enough to know better than that!

It’s Jimmy doing what Jimmy does on an early English summer wicket.
Jimmy quits when Liz quits.
