Tonight's game against Bangladesh is win or bust for England. They also have to beat Afghanistan and hope that NZ beat Bangladesh in their final match of the group.
Funny system.

Must be tempting for one team to suddenly find an overwhelming temporary talent deficit when the results suits everyone playing.

It's always a risk when you leave your fate in someone else's hands. It may be moot anyway if it rains in Sydney on Friday...

Anyway, finally some team changes for England - Hales in for Balance, Jordan in for Finn - but otherwise the order is unchanged.

Sydney area

Cloudy. High (70%) chance of showers, most likely during the morning. Winds south to southeasterly 15 to 25 km/h.

The thing to remember is that this is for the whole of the Sydney Metro area which is half the size of the UK so the SCG may be OK wink

After a good start they have had a revival. It's not going to be a massive score, no where near 300, but can our batters keep a level head and not throw it away?

275 - Morgan would call that a par score.

I see England have a new delivery : they call it a "yorker", and they are very proud to have discovered it.

I have to admit to being torn here : as an Aus supporter, would it be more enjoyable to see England bundled out of the tournament before the finals, or blown away (again) by the "A" teams?

That Jordan chap seems like a keeper if he can swing a stick.

Even Morgan started to look like a propper team Captain for the first few overs, putting pressure on and setting his field to the player and bowling attack. It didn't last but something is better than nothing. Should be an easy chase.

India and New Zealand are looking mighty. South Africa too except for the odd off day.

I thought Bangladesh batted to their strength, which was classic old style, and it served them well. Very pleased for Mahmudullah.

A good performance for England now will give them confidence if they do get through to the quarters. I expect them to beat Afghanistan.

275. Not an easy total. Aussies fell 120 runs short of that recently...

Wasn't really on but he stitched Ali up like a kipper though with his hesitancy hehe. Ali had a few close calls however, he may just not have been comfortable on strike.

Ah, I am only reading on cricinfo, so hard to spot these errors.

I know we are terrible at this and that even if we win today, we are still likely to get hammered in the next match.

But, hope springs eternal. Glad Finn wasn't bowling today, and finally they pick Hales !

Come on lads, pick the pace up.

Assuming no traditional mid order collapse it is looking good so far. This is a smaller ground so once the batters get their eye in should be quite a lot of 4/6 you would think. Playing nice and steady currently.
