There are lots of commercial anti drone products on the market and no doubt every government has their own special little bit of kit too.
Their special little bit of kit looks similar to the one's we use. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-sussex-46623...

Disappointed to read that Boxall & Edmiston has been closed down - http://www.boxallandedmiston.co.uk/ - especially after seeing the pair that someone on here ordered from them.
Oddly I was looking around at rigby,Purdy, boss and co H&H last night.I guess the market is small but those boxall shotguns looked a bargain compared to the ones I was looking at last night and seemed similar quality.
Were they a big name held in high regard like boss etc?

Side by sides are having a real resurgance in our clay syndicate. 50% of the members are using one on a fairly regular basis as they're a bit of fun and you can get some really nice looking guns there.
This is me shooting a friend's 160 year old black powder shotgun last weekend - gives a fantastic flash, smell and cloud of smoke!

Good effort! Not been on the clays for a few years, but the last couple of times was with my trusty Denton SBS - had a few odd looks from the regulars, with their "sponsored" Beretta's, but dusted each n every clay. It's dropped many a real pigeon, pheasant and a fair few rabbit to boot, so a bit of pottery flying through the air is no problem. I was half inclined to buy a big "Beretta" or "Browning" sticker to stick on the barrel to tease them a little more, but decided against it... :-)This is me shooting a friend's 160 year old black powder shotgun last weekend - gives a fantastic flash, smell and cloud of smoke!

Do many people buy second hand guns privately?
I'm trying to sell an expensive section 2 semi auto half way between what a dealer would offer me and what I'd get for it privately but I haven't had any interest (this is on the usual gun trading websites etc.).
Don't know if I'm wasting my time or if I should just sell to a dealer.

Always go if they are priced right.
Guntrader is the place to sell.

00 Buck is good for 200 yards I would have thought, that's 600 feet..
I really don't think that's right, 75 yards tops...horizontally. red_slr said:

Anyway someone has just got in touch asking to buy my shotgun and they'd like to send me a deposit, on problem is....I really don't want to sell it! I only advertised it because I've been straight ballin' all summer and autumn and now it's catching up with me, what to do!
George Digweed shot a clay at 130 yds and that's still the world record AFAIK. I can't see any shotgun load being effective or consistently accurate past 150yds or so with any load.
The issue is the pattern. If you use 00 buck, the spread will be so much after 50 yards (even with a full choke) that hitting a drone will be pure luck.
Even at 30 yds with a full choke and 00 buckshot, it's not a given to get 2 balls in the A zone on an IPSC target.
All this talk about shooting down drones is fantasy. If a drone flew 50ft directly over your head and you had a shotgun in your hand loaded with #4 shot then there's a chance you could hit it, but that's still going to involve a lot of luck. On the other side of an airfield? No chance.
All the talk of rifles, lasers and bazookas is just pure nonsense considering the issues we face in and around airports in this country.
Potential collateral damage rules most, if not all of these solutions out, regardless of how effective they have proved to be in tests or on the battlefield.

Are non U.K. based gun enthusiasts welcome?
After gaining permanent residence in Switzerland a few years ago, I returned to a pastime I enjoyed when I was a lot younger. Gun culture is alive and well in sunny CH.
I have a small collection of pistols that include a Glock 17, Walther PPQ, SIG P320.
Licensing rules are what I would call pragmatic. Getting a permit to acquire is straightforward. Although some nationalities are prohibited, without discussion or appeal. There's usually no home visit from the police, no limitations on how many permits one can acquire, no gun safe requirements at home, no ammunition storage limits.
Most limits are space and money, and in my case, a wife who can spot a new and unauthorised purchase from 1000m.
I've got daughters, so I take special precautions. The oldest is a teenage, she's a talented shooter. They can field strip my pistols quicker and clean them better than I can.
Owning full auto is a little more complicated, not impossible, and there are lots of collectors. One of my colleagues stopped counting after his collection passed 80, including 3 MP5s. People often inherit.
Happy to answer any questions and if you find yourself in Geneva, I can recommend you a local armoury to visit.

I know quite a few UK based shooters that go over to CH to shoot, some of the mountainside ranges look so scenic as well, from photos I've seen posted. Many ranges are oriented towards the annual recertification for conscripts, or restricted to firearms used by the swiss military. Some can be a bit challenging if you can't speak German, or French.
When friends and family visit from uk and want to shoot, my local range is helpful and speaks English. They will expect a visitor they don't know to take a safety lesson with an instructor. The instructor can quickly assess competence levels and weapon manipulation and adapts his training accordingly.
My favourite instructor is a really decent Finnish guy. He's gifted. I'm a fair shot and ok with guns. Compared to him, I'm an amateur. He trains a lot of dynamic courses too.
At my local range, you can rent a good selection of pistols, revolvers, carbines, rifles, shotguns etc and the staff are enthusiastic and professional.
I can share by DM the range and instructor details.

I got my licence just before christmas, which meant I was able to get myself a shotgun just after Christmas. ![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)
Local shop recommended a few choice guns, but it came down to two and I went with the Beretta Sp1 over a Browning.
What with my local club being closed for Christmas and then I had man flu, today was the first day I could get out and try it.
I am over the moon, really happy with my choice and I managed to shoot quite a few clays. It's all been cleaned and put back in the gun cabinet.
It's very very stiff at the moment and takes some muscles to break it.

I'm excited. I've got my first really long range day at Bisley coming up, going out to 1,000 yards. I have shot at 600 before with my modified Winchester P14 in 7.62 but I am very tempted to take the Martini Henry out for a go as well, although I will have to load some ammunition on Saturday first.

I’d like to try longer ranges too. 600 only so far but my 6.5 is allegedly good for over 1k Whether i am or not is another matter. I’d like to try the 45-70
Shame you cant just drive out into the country and shoot like you can in some states in the US and try these things
