Since you're begging for comments, have your legs shrunk in the rain? wink
And why are you wearing your big bro's vest in the first pic? wink

Not that I can talk, I had the worst photo of me taken running on Saturday, which I will endeavour to post up when I get a chance.

ETA - here we go redface

Looking fat in vest: check
Looking red in face: check (it was after 8 miles in my defence, which is quite far for me)
Eyes closed for the camera: check
Limply gripping cup after having spilt it all over the floor: check
Other hand doing some crazy motion that makes you look rather camp: check
Tiny weedy swimmers' legs looking like they'd snap in a high wind: check

To make you feel better here is a picture of me looking like a proper silly fat wker.

Went for an easy-ish 3 miles this morning. Was pissing it down (and dark) when I left but it soon stopped.

Legs felt a little tired after the speed session yesterday but not too bad.

I guess when you get up a 6, its cold, raining, dark and you still get ready and go for a run without thinking about it means you are getting a little addicted to this running lark.

I've been running for 25 years and still hate early morning runs, so you're ahead of me there! hehe

i was meant to do a hard session this morning and an easy run in the evening as i have the day off work. i've been feeling seriously tired the last few days with hints of a sore throat so just slept in. i feel really guilty.

i've had my breakfast so may see if i can drag myself out to do it before lunch time. though not sure if it's a wise idea when i know i'm not feeling my best. it's either that, or a steady 4-5 miles, or a steady 8-10 miles....what you reckon ewen? when you're not feeling great (almost like i have a cold) what do you do?

Missing a session/run today won't be a problem. Forcing your body through a session/run today could make you more ill for longer and have a bigger impact on your fitness.

We all get ill sometimes. Use it as an opportunity to recover properly, refresh your motivation and come back feeling ready to go. I wouldn't bother with the session, and just do a steady run if you feel up to it.

I'd just do a steady 4/5 miles at 7 - 7.15min pace Ross if I were you.

well, the easy run went out the door.

3 miles easy, 4 miles at probably harder than LT (average was 5:50/mile but certainly not flat and i was wearing my massive bulky distance shoe - asics gel nimbus which felt like bricks!) and then another 3 miles steady with 3x100m efforts thrown in.

oops hehe

Thank you smile

I will have lots of questions I am sure. I have just booked to see a personal trainer as I have definitely plateaued recently and lost the plot with what I am doing at the gym so hopefully that will get me going in the right direction.

I plan to do a 5k obstacle course in a months time, the Zombie Run, so would at minimum would like to make sure I am not last hehe

A bit late now but I'd suggest joining your local running club would be better value for money than paying a personal trainer. All UKA-affiliated running clubs have access to qualified running coaches and you get to meet people to run with (much easier to motivate yourself if you've agreed to meet people).

Good luck with the Zombie Run - top tip for not coming last: a judiciously-applied elbow to a competitor hehe

I have been looking for a local club for ages but the one I found seemed a bit hardcore for me at the moment, but definitly something I plan to do and will keep looking for one.

Excellent tip! I am hoping being chased by zombie will provide excellent motivation as well hehe

Two good ways of finding a group nowadays are through Run England or going along to your local ParkRun and chatting to people there.

Thanks for that. Found one group near me on the first site, who I have now emailed about joining. The Park Run I got really excited about and then:

I live near the red arrow!

I seriously need to move! hehe

Sorry...

Maybe join your local RunEngland group and set up a new ParkRun if enough people are interested. Alternatively, yes www.rightmove.co.ukhehe

Good luck anyway.

it shames me to ask....but what do people wear for running during winter? since last winter i've lost a few lbs (possibly 1/2 stone!) and already noticing i feel the cold more. i reckon i'd be fine to 0-5deg in shorts and tshirt but anything below that i think it's being stupid.

anyone use....lycra? do they keep your legs warm? what about tops? any website links?

thanks in advance

Ross
