Exactly. We have a long tail, so this partnership needs to put in a shift, and grind this one out. It might not be pretty, and those who don't understand Test cricket, having been brought up on a diet of white ball won't understand the significance of winning this game after such a fallow period, and giving English Test cricket a much-needed boost.

Beating the current World Champions will be a significant step in the rebuilding process. Test cricket is a long game, both in terms of the matches themselves, and the process of getting our national side back to where it needs to be, before the next Ashes series.

Because that's what really matters.
