Went to a driving range in Wokingham last night, every bay had top tracer screen and launch monitor.
Good fun being able to play games against yer mate in the next bay.
Spent the first 20 balls just smashing them , surprisingly straight !
138mph ball speed and 251 yards total.
All club distances were about what I expect on course , reall enjoyable evening.
Not too bad for a 66 year old , I thought ??
100 balls £10 , beers afterwards , what’s not to like
The Family Golf have pumped a lot of money into that complex. A few other places have Top Tracer as well, does make the range more excitingGood fun being able to play games against yer mate in the next bay.

Shot 70 gross this morning boys! For 17 holes! Doh!
It’ll go in as a gross 76 but should have been a 74.
Played some solid golf and what a lovely morning it was.
Nice warm up for tomorrow at St George’s!
Even the 76 is damned good shootin Tex, especially after the enforced 3 month layoff. Of the 15 or so low handicappers we have at our club, only one has looked anything like it since we restarted, a couple are struggling to break 90! It’ll go in as a gross 76 but should have been a 74.

I've managed to get next week off, so going to spend some time on the course and range seeing if I can improve on the solid bogey golf I've been playing so far. Going to start at the range tomorrow morning and go from there.

Thanks, yeah pretty happy with that!I've managed to get next week off, so going to spend some time on the course and range seeing if I can improve on the solid bogey golf I've been playing so far. Going to start at the range tomorrow morning and go from there.
Since lock down reopened I’ve shot 80, 79, 90, 90, 87, 85, 76.
I was frustrated as the first 2 rounds back I really played quite well. Then the wheels fell off!
So I spent all week in the garden trying to get some kind of swing thought and I think I’ve found something...
Trying to really be smooth and slow, and make sure I finish the swing fully - holding the pose at the end of the swing has really helped. Putted well too!

However, you well know that your next round could be wildly different. I shot 80 midweek (after several low/mid 80s), and managed 96 yesterday
I love/hate this game so much

I've just shot 94, and had to work bloody hard for it. The wind was a bit stronger and much colder. But my feeling and swing couldn't have been more different.
Still, it could be worse. My playing partner lost 8 balls.

In the meantime however, H.I down to a personal best of 7.4!

Its a stupid game. I shot 84 yesterday. And that was the absolute worst I could have shot, if that makes sense. It could easily have been 4 or 5 shots better.

Played the international at the london club today. 25 points from. 28 hcp which i’ll take.
Lovely course but tough. Had a good day for it if you dodged the late afternoon showers! Managed a nearest the pin on the third. We stayed dry!

Yeah I've been going there since it opened and it's genuinely a nice place to go now. All they need to add is an at-the-bay drinks service and it'll be perfect.
Is it still busy at the moment? It’s either this one or Downshire, but at least with downshire I can book and save myself time waiting around Challo said:

It’s either this one or Downshire, but at least with downshire I can book and save myself time waiting around I’ve booked a wedge fitting for next Monday as the jet black Vokeys are calling to me every time I go past them. I think it’s one of those or a Cleveland Zipcore.
Waiting for my first ever new set of clubs to arrive, Ping G425s with the driver, 3 hybrid and 5 wood. I've been quoted 2-3 weeks for delivery. I'll need to find out how far the irons go with my rotten swing put on them. There's no range at my club, the nearest one is 1hr 45mins drive away. Already have the hybrid and fairway from stock and have hit some pleasing shots with them in amongst the usual rubbish so am hopeful for a similar result with the irons. The 7 demo seemed very tolerant.

Cracking afternoon at St George’s yesterday!
Course shaping up very nicely, lots of infrastructure work ongoing. Greens were lovely.
Played very well, 2 over the card through 9 (3up) and won 5&4 on the 14th green. 5 over at that point. Hit some lovely irons.
I'll be there in July for the Open, can't wait. Gutted that Tiger won't be playing, I was really looking forward to seeing him and wanted my son to see him too.Course shaping up very nicely, lots of infrastructure work ongoing. Greens were lovely.

It will be great for you to see the pro's playing and seeing how they fare - when the course is fresh in your mind.
I imagine they will close the course mid June?
Just been for a custom fit for a new set of sticks - the general consensus on why I top the ball so much and get very little height or distance is now very apparent
Apparently a standard loft and lie doesn't do much for you when you need an extra 1" shaft and 2 degrees upright. Added 35 yards to my 7 iron with double the height and spin up to about the 5000 rpm mark. Dispersion was massively improved as well
Couldn't stretch to the Pings but I have a set of Benross Delta steel irons with KBS Tour 105 shafts and Lamkin grips on the ways - 4 iron through to gap wedge. Apparently they are running about 2 week lead times where a lot of the others are 4-6 weeks at the minute
A new set of shoes, a box of decent balls, a new towel, a brolly and a new putter somehow fell into the car as well
Still, £675 all in was still £200 less than the Ping irons so I'm sure the wife will understand
