The PH Gun Cabinet - Shooting Matters
Discussion

At last, a thread that discusses guns without being a "gun control" debate place. Am I correct in assuming this without having to read 200+ pages??? ![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)
If so, I have a collection of far more guns that I can rightfully use (I am in the U.S.). Are gun pics allowed or is that a rule breaker?
It’s ok Jim, this is a safe space ![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)

I have a number of various weapons, some practical, others useless but they make me happy. For that matter, most of my cars are useless as well but they make me happy so there you go. ![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)
I have some for their oddity or potential future collectability. I will post a pick of one and offer some description and background until I finally work my way through each one. I have around 14 at this time. Finally, a thread I can enjoy instead of argue on.![wink](/inc/images/wink.gif)

I will get a chance in a week or so to use my wife’s photo studio and produce some good pics. For now it’s amateur hour with a not-the-newest iPhone. ![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)
I will begin with the weapon that makes the lefties’ heads explode...well, perhaps that’s poor phrasing; the one that drives them batty (Corona themed). This AR-15 is an Anderson, built in Hebron Kentucky.
I don’t recall if it is a 1:9 twist. I have a medium cost optic (around $190). The front and rear sights are collapsible and made of billeted aluminum. They are adjusted to co-witness through the optic. I have two 30 round Magpull mags and about six standard sized aluminum mags.
Anderson is not one of the large named manufacturers but more of a family-owned boutique gunmaker. I purchased a 400 round ammo can for about $149.

A question (and I’m a multiple gun owner) - just what on Earth is that for? Not sport, not targets, not hunting.... so what do you do with it?![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)

It can be a self defense weapon but I have it for outdoor range shooting. We have access to acreage and outdoor ranges for standard 100 meter siting.
There are competitions available in my region. Sometimes open, sometime limited to specific types of ammo, iron sites only, etc. Additionally, there are “active ranges” that one can compete on. You walk through the village setting and react to spontaneous pop up targets. One does this alone and competes for number of targets hit in the shortest time. Much like police or military training, there will be a “bad guy” and “good guy” Target. Penalties of course for engaging the wrong one.
I also have my guns for future collectability and mainly a hobby. I used a 5.56 in my military years and am comfortable with them. Some do hunt with them as it is legal in some states to do so. I am an avid fisherman but do not hunt.

What do you mean, not sport and not targets?Practical Rifle competition under IPSC has been around for 40 odd years with thousands of competitors in countries around the world that still allow semi-auto rifle ownership.
Used to be big here in UK as well until 1988.

Looks nice.
I was issued a Bushmaster AR as a cop, but had to give it back when I retired. So easy to shoot; accurate, and with a very light recoil, but I found the 5.56 round a bit gutless.
The 7.62 is far less gutless but one sacrifices accuracy imo. Give and take I suppose. I was issued a Bushmaster AR as a cop, but had to give it back when I retired. So easy to shoot; accurate, and with a very light recoil, but I found the 5.56 round a bit gutless.
