the ideal scenario for Froome would be to take the Jersey on the penultimate TT stage just so he can at least hide a bit in his SKY kit.

I would be great to see Mark Cavendish have a go today.

Has Cav lost his nerve a bit with all his accidents recently? Someone swerved across him and he wobbled and just gave up.

Think his team got it wrong today took it up too far out and it ended up a bit of a drag race for the big guys not sure why he put his hand up it looked a bit whimpy

He hasn't got the form at present, as soon as you lose the wheel your done, he lost it and then suffered the gradient and head wind, no coming back from that.

Gaviria looks unstoppable at present, I really thought QS overdid it in the TTT yesterday and fancied Gronewagon for the win today.

I'm a bit behind with the highlights at the moment, but following it all in the press.

Who had "Day 3" in the sweepstake of "how soon will Chris Boardman do a piece in his wind tunnel about aero advantages"?

hehe

Surprised it took him till day 3.

Any time I see Chris Boardman, of Boardman Bikes, I'm reminded of his call for the NHS to provide free bikes for the overweight. I don't think people who fish in canals would be pleased at his idea.

I thought there might be a thing about aero bikes for sprinters for day 2, since Salbutamol would take up the rambling time for day 1.

I was half right...

He was way too far back anyway... looked like he wanted to start moving up at the same point Greipel went full gorilla, already well in front of him. Sagan and Gaviria launched as soon as they saw him coming. Cav was 5 bike lengths back at the point this happened I think.

If you compare the lead out, Gaviria had a man in front of him right up until he launched when he saw Greipel go. Cav had... well... nobody. Never had a chance. When Groenewegen cut across him he was already going backwards. He took it on the chin and didn't blame the team (maybe he knows he wouldn't have had the legs anyway) but there was clearly a lead out failure there!

Love Sagan. Regretting not putting in him my team. Rookie move. Hes a nice guy as well and funny in interviews. I don't hate Froome but he is so dull in comparison to Sagan & Cav

Is everyone watching the ITV4 highlights? I like Gary Imlach, Boardman has become a bit of a pastiche of himself but knows his stuff. But the actual highlights are quite short. Eurosport have a 90 minute show but the host isn't great and they don't really have any pundits. Just wish the ITV4 one was a bit longer.

I try to catch them each night, but sometimes have to play catch up.

An hour is just about right I think. As much as I love cycling, there can be hours of not a lot happening.

I like Imlach's dry humour.
Main downside for me of the itv4 coverage is the watchfinder guy you see at every ad break. I try and skip through using the PVR as much as possible, but end up having to sit through the one at the end of the break fairly often.
Who wears a poncy watch when they are cycling? His bike is rubbish! His cadence looks painful, there's a lot wrong with that advert.

I do like the comedy katusha alpecin adverts though.

The thing that annoys me most about that advert is that he is on the big chainring and big sprocket. Poor rear mech.

I've been watching the 5 minute YouTube highlights. At this point of the race, its enough for me.

Will switch back to the ITV4 stuff over the next few days.

And he wears his sunglass arms under his helmet straps and turns his bike upside down when he takes the wheel off.

I'm glad I'm not the only one to have noticed the fact that the poor chap on the watchfinder advert has had to buy a low-rent bike in order to afford a used posh watch. Side-exit cables indeed? The poor misguided sap should have ditched the watch idea altogether and bought himself a shiny carbon fibre frame with at least Ultegra fitted...

...clearly not a cyclist, as his priorities are all to pot!

a couple of bike questions regarding the tour, do they run on tubeless tyres , if so when they get a puncture is it because the Tyre is ripped. And are disc brakes banned in the race for safety reasons.

They all run tubular tyres.

Discs are now allowed, some teams are running them.
