9mm might be making a come back in the UK as at least 2 companies are looking to do SP ARs in 9 following the unicorn ban.

As an explanation, a stock, straight forward grip and a barrel less than 16" equals a short barreled rifle over here, which means paperwork, wait, and money, or a stint in chokey.

Hence arm brace not stock, and an angled front grip, making this a pistol.

Yes.

New flash can and a couple of safeties (rationalising to same ambi selector on all ARs) ordered.

Made me think though - you can order anything other than a complete firearm or receiver online, here. I've never tried in the UK - what can you, or can you not, get online?

You can actually get most things online in the UK. You cant get actual parts of firearms though i.e barrels or pressure bearing parts.

Brownells UK offer an FAC service where you can send them a copy of your FAC and they will then allow you to order certain items like firing pins or springs / ejectors etc.

We can also buy bullet heads, primers, cases etc online and have them posted, again you have to register your FAC in most cases.

Stuff like magazines, grips, stocks, scopes or any other accessory really can be bought without FAC online no issues although IME more and more dealers are now requiring you to register and send a copy of your FAC.

The things you 100% cant buy online in the UK is complete FAC ammunition, suppressors and firearms. You can however use RFD 2 RFD service which allows you to buy "online" and then the item is posted directly to your dealer who you can then present yourself and collect your item. Bit like click and collect!!

RFD 2 your door is also slowly becoming a thing, where the RFD will come out to your home and check your paperwork and then make the transaction "face to face".

How about not pressure bearing components say, a trigger group?

Suppressors are more regulated here than the UK, thought I've had ammo delivered directly to my door.

Triggers are fine just like buying any other accessory really.

Suppressors and flash hiders are regulated but muzzle breaks are not. We have some weird laws!

You want to try that here...

Suppressors are $200 plus their actual cost, plus a long wait. There's some things that are classed as suppressors that clearly aren't (xm177, I'm looking at you).

Where the US actually has gun laws, those laws are often pretty awkward and poorly defined. Hence AR 'pistols'. Which are subject to re-interpretation at any point.

as an RFD who does a lot of transfers it amazes me that people are prepared to pay more to have it delivered to my shop than if they just walked in off the street and bought off my shelf. TBH its great fro cheap air pistols , £25 for handing it over is sometimes bigger than the margin in the gun and one has no warranty / returns to deal with.

I shoot from time to time but decided at Christmas to apply for my shotgun certificate which came through just before lockdown.

Today I picked up a new Beretta 690 but had flush chokes fitted as I prefer the look. Looking forward to taking out a few clays in the near future as well as the odd game shoot.

Nailed it. There's a couple of nuances around 'any other weapon', to be exploited by the brave wishing to get something in a state that bans short barreled rifles, but frankly, it gets too complex for me at that point.

Looking for suggestions with regards to starting clays. My son (17) has expressed an interest following a short time with small bore target shooting that clays and possibly game over time would be more fun/interesting.

He's looked on various websites for local clubs and there's three at Bisley, all with different membership costs. My feeling is that there may be better value looking a bit further out - Surrey/Hampshire/Berkshire

What suggestions would you have?

Took my muzzle loading shotgun to the range yesterday with some nice .69 cast round balls, made a bunch of very nice big holes in the target.

Also, found out that the gun shoots 4" low at 25 yards, so tried a pair of shot filled barrels, also shoots low. See, I knew that it wasn't my fault that I kept missing the pigeons!

Damn it's fun on the dark side.

Take 2.

One obvious change, one more subtle one.

I swapped out the grip for a magpul K2 grip as it's got a different angle more suited to the short 'stock'. Feels a bit more natural but I think it would be better to go the whole SBR registration route. Which won't be soon as I've had enough of paperwork in general for a bit.

get a cert and you can just shoot on the pay and play at Bisley. loads of grounds around london also then. AGL, Fennes, A1, WLSS, EJs etc etc

This is a pistol, if semi auto only.

This is a rifle, if semi auto only.
https://www.nationalww2museum.org/sites/default/fi...

And if you could make one of these semi auto, it would probably meet the description of a pistol

Any clearer? laugh
