Looks like Carl Frampton will be fighting Steve Molitor next month. Molitor is probably two or three years past his best but is a step-up in quality for Frampton. My gut feeling is this is a very good piece of match-making for Frampton and is just the kind of opponent he should be looking to take on now...

That's odd - I thought McGuigan had recently confirmed Kiko Martinez?Lost_BMW said:

Could be a tough test for Frampton - he'll need his wits about him for this guy, assuming he's as fit as he claims.

Find it hard to believe...I didn't realise Hatton was that young. I guess if nothing else he has age on his side! Still, these comebacks are all fine and dandy until you find yourself two minutes into the first round when it suddenly dawns that you no longer have the stomach for it and a whupping is on its way.
oh god, he can't be skint already so this folly is pure vanity.the sad part is a slick/quick fighter like malignaggi(even though hatton has already beaten him-in the context of his recent form a good victory)is not the sort of awkward opponent yo want when trying to shed 3 years ring rust.i love hatton and hope he reconsiders but i do understand that he doesn't want to go out like he did against pacman.
naz had one more fight after barrera, struggled and won a stinkfest against manuel cavo but at least it got it all out of his system.
interesting to see kostya tszyu is now training povetkin.i wonder if his natural aggresive side can be brought out in alexander??
got to be better han what teddy atlas managed with him.
i like that wladimir is fighting unbeaten lion mariusz wach of poland in november.he has real promise and seems to be unafraid to test himself.big fker as well!!might be a bit green for wlad just yet i'm afraid though

Agreed with the ring-rust point...though the one advantage of stepping back in with Malignaggi is that he's relatively light-handed so Hatton is more likely to come through with his health in tact...naz had one more fight after barrera, struggled and won a stinkfest against manuel cavo but at least it got it all out of his system.

...at least in a physical sense. My really big concern is this: he clearly had a tough, tough time dealing with retirement first time round, which ultimately led to him trying to replicate the big fight 'high' through other more destructive means. Recently, though, he seems to have come through that and appears (or appeared) to have found a measure of equilibrium in his life through the training and promoting. I would just hate to see him getting hooked on the fighting buzz again and then having to go through all that st once more, once the show is finally over...

Just seen an absolute cracker on BN - Abraham V Stieglitz.
Actually waiting for the decision and expect Abrahamm to get it but think Stieglitz could be more derving. Both must have skulls like rhinos with some of the shots they took, the sort of fight that makes you nervous and worry for their safety at time.
EDIT - as expected but by ludicrous home turf points amounts, much closer than it was given

Ah! So there was a conclusion to this fight after all! You see, I Sky+d it and the recording ended just at the start of the eleventh. I was fearing that some terrible fate had befallen the arena...vaporised by lasers from alien spacecraft for instance...but now I see that the BoxNation/Sky+ collaboration has stuffed up once again
For what it's worth, I had Abraham marginally ahead at that stage; quality narrowly edging volume for me...but could see it being scored either way. Should have been close, whichever way it went, unless either fighter went on to massively dominate the final two rounds.

I watched live but thought there'd have been a problem as the fight started very late, after 11.00 I think within less than an hour of the programme remaining. For what it's worth, I had Abraham marginally ahead at that stage; quality narrowly edging volume for me...but could see it being scored either way. I think it was close but Abraham landed more of the heavier shots ( a lot - Stieglitz is bloody tough and very brave) but Stieglitz did do more work overall in most rounds - Abraham shut off too often in too many rounds and just played a waiting game, yet when he attacked looked very menacing. Overall I'd have given it to Abraham by a coupe of points but really wouldn't have been disappointed if Stieglitz had got it.
Makes me think that if Groves had got the fight he'd have lost.
i was watching thinking that exact same thing about groves.having not seen anything of stieglitz apart from the odd snippet i was very impressed.my sky+ failed as well but for me stieglitz was a couple of rounds up on volume going into the 11th.i can totally understand why some would score the other way though as abraham was hitting much more forcefully and doing more damage.good fight!!
Yep, quite possibly. The one thing I would say though is that in his last two fights (Smith, Sierra) Groves has shown he is now punching with proper venom. If he'd have hit Stieglitz with the type of shots Abraham was catching him with, especially the right hand, I'd fancy Groves to have taken him out. Still, with Abraham now holding the belt, I would have thought he'll be aiming up the division (Kessler, Bute, Dirrell, Froch) rather than down (Groves, DeGale), so both the latter two might be at least a couple of fights away from a title shot...which actually may be no bad thing.
I also think that the Groves of late - not the one who fought DeGale too tentatively imho - could possibly KO Stieglitz if he were able to land his better shots but it would be a hard ask looking at what Stieglitz took off of Abraham with little ill effect, some awesome punches to head and body.
Overall though I don't think he'd survive long enough to be able to do so - unless he got Stieglitz early he would ship shots, given how active Stieglitz is, and I don't think his chin would cope as well as Abraham did. The likes of Macklin and Murray are I think better suited to that type of opponent/fight.
