Parkrun Personal Worst last week, but my best/proudest in many ways!
My PB in 18.10 a few years ago
Last week 34.20
Me, both daughters, both Grandaughters (6 & 4)
I’ll go solo again soon
Hope to crack 20 mins again, usually just over, aged 61.
Age grading is better than when I was in my prime, but still chasing
That would have been a memorable Parkrun for sure. My PB in 18.10 a few years ago

You’re still knocking out good times if sub 20 is your target , my PB is similar to yours although probably about 15 years ago. I’m 64 and have a target of going sub 21, think I’m on about 21:40 at the moment.
Wouldn’t you mind sharing your average run week ?
I’m a very sporadic runner as I’m a keen cyclist and hill walker but I think if I want to go sub 21 then I’m going to have to cobble a plan together.
Mine isn’t at all scientific..
I usually run 6 days a week
Long run on a Monday, a slow 10 miles.
I go the the track Wednesday lunchtimes, various reps, it’s a killer..
Recover for the Parkrun on Saturday
Around 35 miles a week in total.
The granddaughter, just turned 6, getting around the junior parkrun 2k, around 11 mins now. She’ll be beating me before I know it!
Thanks for the reply.
I’m going to start running every second day up to 5 miles. Today was a 5k at 4:30 pace with a 3k jog warm down.
I’m thinking in a week or two I’ll introduce an interval session once a week and take it from there.
Once I plateau then I’ll have to get a bit more scientific if I want to dip below 21 for the PR.

Also unscientifically, based on me (parkrun plus 2 runs or sessions per week) and a friend (runs every day) who are 66 - he's close to 21 min, I'm slower; he's frequently injured, I'm not, I'd prefer to be able to run 25 min every week than 21 min on the weeks I'm not injured and not at all on others so I'd say take care, certainly initially, to balance speed against injury risk.I’m going to start running every second day up to 5 miles. Opps! Not sure what happened there… and I can’t find it now.
But a ParkRun official page has posted that the RD puts cones out on the side of a road near the park to stop people parking there and are being ignored… the comments are heated and full of locals who aren’t park runners pointing out that they have every right to legally park there and use the park at that time.
I understand the locals getting upset - a big one near me ropes off a big chunk of the park for the finish area and I've always wondered about what the other park users feel about not being able to use it. I'm sure they have permission. But a ParkRun official page has posted that the RD puts cones out on the side of a road near the park to stop people parking there and are being ignored… the comments are heated and full of locals who aren’t park runners pointing out that they have every right to legally park there and use the park at that time.
4th anniversary of my local event, Oaklands tomorrow.
Shadowing of a run director last week went well, albeit it being extremely wet and cold. I've concluded that I already have a decent knowledge of what goes on before and during an event, but I need to better understand what happens after an event in terms of results processing etc.

The results processing is much easier than it use to be now the app has been re-written and designed for phones.
Assuming its an issue free event, you can have the results published within minutes of the last person finishing.
If you ask one of the RDs then they will have no problem showing you what happens as long as you don't mind sticking around until the end.

First run of any kind for 6 weeks today at Great Denham
Picked up a nasty bout of Covid on holiday and only just feel like running again
I was in 26 min form before the holiday, trotted round in 32.05 today, and that was absolutely flat out. Felt very weak but managed to run the whole thing
Pray for me

I booked a 'Runner's MOT' with https://we-run.co.uk/running-analysis-mot/ last month as I was sick of my non existent technique injuring me.
I say MOT, it was 90mins teaching me some fundamentals as the last (and only!) time I'd run before this summer, was a one off 1500m on a school sports day in 1989.
It was excellent and well worth the c.£80
Having done a few 5k's to try and put it all into practice, today was the first Parkrun since. I'd like to say everything was easier but that would be a lie! It's quite a transition going from a plodding, over striding, heel striking cadence of 145 to dorsal flex, hip forward, knee lifting, landing under hips, 170.
I was knackered at the end but I think that was more down to the concentration required on the technique. It still feels alien and like I'm sprinting slowly(!) but I can see how it will be more efficient once I've trained my muscle memory/built some abductor strength.
Good fun nonetheless and at 27mins was around the same time as previous, but importantly no injuries.

I think i need an MOT i did a steady Runpark today but managed to pass a few people. At coffee after a few people asked if i was ok as they thought i was a bit all over the place. Someone on here a while ago said they'd run wearing a football shirt with 25 on the back, and were thanked for pacing - I was reminded of that on Saturday when I was following the 26 min pacer, someone with a purple 25 T and a guy with a 27 footy shirt - I wonder if anyone was confused by them!.
Did my 250th parkrun at Edinburgh (my original home event) at the weekend.
It’s taken me just over 12 years to get to the milestone (I wasn’t quite as prolific at doing them every weekend back on the day. Beautiful sunny and calm morning for it and I did a pretty chilled 35 min time. Ran it with the mrs, me pushing the buggy and a mate came along with his dog. It was my mrs’ first parkrun since January. Perfect way to tick off the milestone.
Long sleeve milestone t shirt already ordered!

Covid about 7 or 8 weeks ago, followed by various sneezes and coughs, headaches, breathlessness, then a damn knee prob aggrivated by a climb up Goatfell on Arran.
Went out last Wednesday at home, less than 3 miles and knackered, Very flat Parkrun in Largs on Saturday did it in 30.55 or something. Last year I did it in 25 something. Still, I'm working on it.
A shop at the park we went to on Saturday had a tea tray with an map of the park on it. I thought it would be amusing to draw the parkrun route on to a photo of it and stick it on one of the tourist facebook groups as a joke that you could buy a tray with a map of the parkrun on it.
It turns out people on the Parkrun Tourism facebook groups are crazy and loads seem to now be planning to go there just to buy one

They really are crazy on there. Half of them seem to be on there purely to insist that 'it's not a race' and grumbling about inconsiderate faster runners' as soon as anyone talks about pushing for a time
