Samples are retained.

If there's a test available as claimed, there's nothing stopping historic samples being tested to determine if it was indeed being used.

Pretty poor 'journalism' though - just loads of supposition, no quotes, no sources - apart of one bloke who appears to know nothing of the drug in question, but 'explains how these type of substances may benefit athletes' scratchchin

Quelle surprise indeed.

Looks a bit like a Shiv TT?

Weird - not sure why it wouldn't be an old Canyon or his new Slick depending on what he had available.

Might be what tested fastest and as no team kit, he can ride what he likes?
Sounded to me like as it was contract year he basically threw the kitchen sink at the race. Shame for him, but seems the same old story. Tried to go out at watts he knew he couldn't sustain, and surprisingly didn't sustain.

Assuming that the substance isn't metabolised sufficiently quickly to avoid being detected and thus wouldn't be in any samples.

Hmmm, not sure about that; good news only if he's allowed to continue with his CX & MTB exploits. One of the reasons why MvdP has stayed were he is - as they allow him to mix 3 disciplines. WT teams traditionally don't like what they view as 'distractions'.

Thinking of that, I became a big fan of the alternative calendar that EF ran last year. Maybe Ineos are trying to break out a bit of PR....

Nasty crash for Dygert, I thought she'd got that sewn up. But to finish first...

Hope Pidcock has his chance to shine at the behemoth that is Ineos. My prediction is a podium in the Worlds this weekend.

There’s definitely a changing of the guard, hardly recognise any names in the GB team!
I think this will be the first time I’ve seen Pidcock race in what is effectively a ProTour race. Will be interesting for sure.

Just read on BBC that Quintana got raided for drugs by French police during the tour.

Looks like they didn't find anything (which is good, I like the small wrinkled Colombian). Wonder what caused them to do the raid though? Must have had pretty strong intel / accusing tip off - they've arrested a doctor and a physio.

Love that. The Giro is definitely my favourite grand tour.

Childish, I know, but am I the only person who has to smile every time they see a Trek-Segafredo rider with ‘splunk’ written across their backsides?
