Have to laugh at the footage of McGregor prancing around the bag! All it shows is that if the bag had just one arm, McGregor would be geting his face jabbed every 3 seconds.
Well I'm no expert but I am not seeing much boxing there. He's fit and looks quick but surely that's all he has?
You're quite right. The things he has is an unorthodox style and a good left hand but we all know that it does not mean it'll trick or confuse Mayweather. He'll be missing a lot and his unusual stance will make it easier to knock him down if caught clean.
There's a very high chance he gets stopped. Ordinarily people lower their punch output against Mayweather as they just got countered stupid and don't want to tire themselves out and get completely embarrassed. If McGregor keeps pushing the fight then he will get stopped. He's a fantastic fighter but he is out of his depth in the boxing ring, even against a 40 year old retired champ.

On the bag he has a peculiar way of using his right hand to tee the bag up; repeatedly tapping it with the back of his glove. Unless Mayweather walks onto an islolated left like Aldo did, McGregor isn't going to get many big lefts onto him.
It's not that unusual for a south paw, lomechenko does it a lot, throws out little tapping jabs as he circles to his right cover his footwork and blind the opposites left eye.The more I've seen of Connor the more I'm thinking of laying a few quid on him, his size advantage, freak atheliticism and genuine self confidence more tham match Mayweathers, Mayweathers experience, fast hands and excellent defence behind that shoulder may be useless against a southpaw with a proper laser guided left hand being launched in from all sorts of angles. If Mayweather abandons a canny defence and lots for a high guard like he has against southpaws before Connor has the size and power to punch straight through it. He's got freakish dimensions and is as fit and conditioned as any athlete on the planet.
It won't be one for the pureists and could well fall short of the hype but I'm still going to say Connors by no means has no chance.

the back of the hand thing is weird as even if it lands it will be deemed an illegal blow....land the same tap with the knuckles and it scores.....
i find to be successful as a southpaw , as fred says above, you have to get them onto your backhand by forcing them to go to their right....and the way to do it is with foot pressure....i like the lead hook even more than the jab but tend to put them together from low right lead jab.....throw the jab from low(with your front shoulder up for a bit of extra defence to help ,seeing as your glove guard on the right hand has been sacrificed) so they see it late.hopefully it scores but if not they pull guard anyway and invariably leave the left side of their head open for an immediate right hook hook after the jab. this has a very high connection rate and leaves you with the luxurious position of being able to step through to the right while connecting so they don't even see you do it....hey presto your step through/pivot allows you to get a back hand off on the fighting line as well while the other guy is off line so can't throw....he then has to reset to get anything off and you go again....basically in a southpaw/orthodox match generally the guy who gets the lead foot on the outside controls the fight.....unless you are a crazy fker like sergio martinez or pacquiao who circle to their left!!!
obviously, my opinion carries more weight than those 2 gentlemen
but in my defence 99.99999999% of us do it my way!!

no crawford indongo chatter!!!???
personally can't wait for this one...i suppose this will tell us if ricky burns is shot to st or indongo is really that good.
my ears pricked up watching him on some undercard wiping out troyanovski who had been making some waves....but it was so quick we didn't see much of him..it was only when he completely owned burns i thought there might be something in this guy....
but crawford is top #3 pfp material for me ...an absolute class act and i can only see it taking him a few rounds to get to grips with that awkward style of indongo....if crawford can dominate postol (who i still rate very highly) then i think he should do so here as well

I have to agree, I can't see Crawford losing this one.
Just to add - I've seen on various other forums I frequent that people are concerned about how much bigger Indongo is than Crawford as he towered above him in their face off.
That said, I still can't see it being anything other than a win for Crawford. Viktor Pistol is 6ft tall and he had absolutely no issues with him and Pistol is no walk in the park ordinarily.

Mayweather has a lot of clever and sneaky tricks that he uses to reset his opponent and break their rythmn. He paws with his left hand and brings it towards the top of the head of the opponent, their line of vision is obstructed, he then goes to the body and he can then sneak a right hand in or stay with the left depending if his opponent moves forwards or backwards.

McGregor won't see half of them coming as they are just so subtle and he'll get picked off once his energy (both mental and physical) starts to drain.

There doesn't seem to be a lot of boxing on TV anymore, it has really gone quiet on Sky, BT, ITV and Channel 5.
I used to love my Saturday nights in with a curry and Boxing on the telly. The first half of this year there was something going on nearly every week.
Is it a seasonal thing?
I know there are big fights overseas but I can't get too worked up about fights that happen at 5am on a Sunday morning - It's got to be a really big fight for me to set the alarm clock!

There are boxing seasons in the amateurs, usually ends around end of may beginning of June and restarts in September, can vary from country to country though.I used to love my Saturday nights in with a curry and Boxing on the telly. In the pros there are fights year round but it does tend to go quieter over the same months as the amateurs.

Thanks.
Guess it's another few weeks of watching rom-coms on a Saturday night with the missus then!
Given the 'next few weeks' includes a four belt world title unification fight between Crawford and Indongo and a three-ring* circus spectacular between Mayweather and McGregor, both of which have been discussed on this very page(!), the only explanation is you actually like watching rom-coms and are feigning ignorance in order to justify your viewing habits and hide your shame. It's as transparent as it is pitiful...Guess it's another few weeks of watching rom-coms on a Saturday night with the missus then!
'*don't get excited; there will be only one ring. I said this metaphorically.

The Nathan Cleverly, Badou Jack match is confirmed for the Mayweather McGregor undercard. Intriguing match up, i think Cleverly deserves a late summer to his career, he's a skilled boxer, buy Jack at light heavy with his durability and defensive style could physically be just too much...
Fwiw, BetVictor have got a new sign up offer of 100/1 on mcgegor to win, with a £10 free bet. I'm not much of one for gambling but will put my money where my mouth is at some point this week, on McGregor.

Hang on, so BetVictor will give you a FREE £10 to bet at 100/1 on McGregor winning? If he does, they'll go bust overnight surely Fwiw, BetVictor have got a new sign up offer of 100/1 on mcgegor to win, with a £10 free bet. Edit: just went to have a look - £1 max! And then £10 to throw away on something else. I think they know the likely result so not TOO much risk!
