The PH Gun Cabinet - Shooting Matters
Discussion

As per previous posts, I've been shooting with a Browning 525 for the last 22 years or so, and have no intention of changing - it's great and I shoot well with it.
I do, however, want to pick up a second gun as a 'spare' for guests, and JIC my primary gun should ever fail on a shoot.
I could pick up a new 725 or similar, with pretty much 100% confidence in the quality and longevity, but possibly expensive overkill for the requirement.
Used 525 / similar. Still possibly overkill considering it's likely to see limited use.
KOFS Sceptre / Webley 900 or similar in the £500 - £700 range. Sounds good, but I simply don't know enough about these guns, and can't find many helpful reviews.
Thoughts welcome - especially any experience on the KOFS / Webley.
ATA shotguns seem to be good value Premier Guns rate them highly https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ttntZxsPf8YI do, however, want to pick up a second gun as a 'spare' for guests, and JIC my primary gun should ever fail on a shoot.

Okay, anyone have any suggestions what to do if your GP won't speak to Medcert? 10 weeks now, shotgun certificate now expired. Think I will get the same hassle if I try to move GPs and start the process again.
My wife had a similar issue. When she called medcert about it she was told by them to maybe remind her gp that by law they have to release the records in 28 days and that if they weren’t she would be contacting the GMC and instructing a solicitor. They were soon ready

Don't want to get legal on my GP but they are taking the piss now.
How much is the charge?
I used Shootcert for my medical and their website says
[quote] In a small minority of cases, some GP practices want to charge fees for sending the patient’s medical notes to ShootCert however according to the BASC legal team:
“Charges for SARs may only be made if the request is “manifestly unfounded or excessive” but a request for a patient’s full notes has been held by the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) as NOT being excessive”

Cheers, unfortunately I've been unsuccessful in reviving it but the company have accepted fault for it and are taking it back, luckily they aren't too far away so I can deliver it back at my cost.
Have found a hopefully much better quality cabinet with someone else for a similar price, but also considering going for a "vault lock" type instead if I can find one the right size for a reasonable price

Are we going to try and have a PH clayshoot then ?
I think we still should! For me Sept or Oct work best as the cricket season finishes.
Give me a day or so and I'll stick a poll up to gauge interest and timing preferences. I'm happy to organise

I don't get charged by my GP. When I first applied for a cert I went in to see him. I explained that I was taking up shooting and that I was of sound mind, and that I would be grateful if he could complete the necessary paperwork. Thankfully I've only ever bothered my GP once in twenty years for a minor health issue so I think he's happy to assist.
If you have a problematic GP who is against shooting, get a new one!

I'd also throw into the ring Catton Hall in Frodsham - it's the most varied and scenic ground I've been to, and again it has a huge carpark!

What do you mean by 'practical shooting'?
It isn't very popular in UK compare to Target and Clayhttps://www.ukpsa.co.uk/

I do a bit of minirifle - not shot a UKPSA Match yet, though I have shot a couple in the NRA League.
I am left hand shooter, my club do shoot mini rifle but they do shoot LSR. Always been using the ruger 10/20 club gunBeen looking at what mini rifle on the market, seem MP15-22 the most popular one, there also seem to be some shooter running the vector. Any experience with it?
The vector seem quite easy for both left or right hand shooting, the sight over bore seem high and concern me a bit. MP15-22 with ambidextrous conversion seem to cost as much as a Vector now

You can customise a 15-22 to your hearts content but the vector is a bit more 'real' feeling (more metal construction, is heavier). Been looking at what mini rifle on the market, seem MP15-22 the most popular one, there also seem to be some shooter running the vector. Any experience with it?

Have you looked at the Tippman or Kris DMK?
I started on a 10/22, then Sig 522, then a Rimfire magic 10/22 and finally on a 15-22....... but I don't really do mini rifle anymore. Just do my own thing in my field, it's a good bit of cheap fun and helps get the youngsters interested.
This is mine:
