I agree, hence posting that I was hoping she wasn't finished quite yet. Strong chance she will bounce back.
Apparently went straight out on practise court after the match, and will have detailed talks with her coach leading up to playing in the Australian Open. I didn't see the match, but the score tells it own story along with a couple of reports I've read - Her own service-game letting her down badly for one..Really hoping she can offer real competition in the first of 2022's major tournaments..

I think having the right people around her at the US Open meant a lot to her and is part of what boosted her confidence and her performance. She was definitely feeding a lot off Tim Henman being there. Perhaps he should go into coaching. It's hard to know what goes on behind closed doors, but it's possible her father is maybe making decisions for her that aren't for the best.

Didn't take long for the weirdo's to latch onto her - bit on the news earlier tonight about a bloke going through court at the moment who visited her parents house repeatedly and ended up stealing her dads trainers thinking they were hers Seems to be a step up from the various others that were cyber stalking her after Wimbledon / US Open / that she'd already reported towards the latter part of '21.
Edit - first link via Google - other news sources also carrying similar.

Sadly that's the nature of the beast.. Emma goes from just an unknown teenager, to major sports winner and a billboard for the top fashion labels at the same time...! Whilst she has endeared herself to a wonderful fanbase, with all the good people who keenly follow her career, a few bad ones will always quite literally, creep in.....!Edit - first link via Google - other news sources also carrying similar.

Hopefully her real friends locally will support her and help her with her fears, as sadly I doubt the courts will do much...!

Quite a weird match in Mexico this morning against a revenant. A bizarre festival of unforced errors and moon balls. Emma was 2 points away from winning but had to retire in the third, seemingly with a thigh injury.
Some of the "old" magic though at times.
I guess she still needs a lot of work to be back to anywhere near her past form. I just don't know why she has been playing so little competitive tennis this year.
I caught this story on the radio this morning, and fitness, endurance still seems to be an issue..Some of the "old" magic though at times.

I'm also not sure how her personal life is affecting her progress. I think she was recently quoted as not feeling safe at home, and is looking to find a residance in a gated-community! I don't follow social media so can't comment on any hate or negative comments she receives, but it can't help. Also, just a year ago, she was pretty much unknown, just another teenager enjoying her life and concentrating on her studies and exams... I guess that winning a major tennis tournament so early on has it's costs as well as it's benefits.
We'll see this season, how she plays in the big tournaments where she'll learn much about herself going forward...
