I sometimes walk my dogs next to Bearwood Lakes and it looks empty on a weekend which seems strange.

It's consistently in the top 20 in the world - it's a stunning course. The New isn't far behind, either. Must be one of the greatest 36 hole destinations.
Hmm, top 100 defo and top 50 at a push, certainly not consistently in the top 20, if ever.edit. not disparaging its greatness however!

So yeah, top 20/30 depending what you read!
Although, I've played Royal St George's many times and in my opinion Sunningdale Old is the better course despite RSG's always being ranked higher!
It's interesting that you say that about RSG's, because that's why I enjoyed Sunningdale so much! Thought it was a lot of fun and very playable.
RSG's is always in bang average condition, although when I played it last year 6 weeks before the Open it was unsurprisingly very good.
I'm back at Sunningdale on Saturday so will post again (although not sure if I'm playing Old or New this week) with further thoughts!

Looking for a new driver.
Played a lot 20 years ago, then stopped due business, just getting back into it, hitting the ball nice with a slight draw.
I'd like to think i'll be playing to about 20 within a few months and improving over the next year.
My driver was ancient 20 years ago, looking at Cobra F9 speedzone, Callaway mavrik (standard) or Callaway epic flash.
Any advice other recommendations?.
I would definitely recommend you hit the Mizuno driver, very underrated. Love mine!Played a lot 20 years ago, then stopped due business, just getting back into it, hitting the ball nice with a slight draw.

Played the Walton Heath Mid Am yesterday.
What a course and overall experience in and around the clubhouse.
They laid on lunch and the catering was absolute class.
Scores will not be revealed it was off the purples at 7300 and absolute carnage.
Haha! 7300 is savage. Presume Old Course? Beautiful place. What a course and overall experience in and around the clubhouse.

So if I play another 2 times and hit say 90 and 91 then my 85 from last year will be added to the handicap in spite of me not hitting near that score in my last half dozen rounds? That sounds like it reflects my true handicap.
Correct. But that's your fault for only putting in 5 cards so far this year.

Most of my rounds are with people who aren't members anywhere and don't have handicaps so can't really verify cards. Is it possible to put my own verified cards in when playing either on my own or with others who don't have handicaps?
Unfortunately not. To be able to register a general play score you need to play with someone else that is registered on the My England Golf app who can verify your score. So really you need to play with more members from your club, or play in more comps!
Just back from 4 days on the Norfolk coast. What a stunning part of the country!
Played some lovely courses starting at Royal Cromer, then Sheringham, Royal West Norfolk (Brancaster) and finally Hunstanton.
Hunstanton and Brancaster obviously pick of the bunch, with Brancaster being my favourite. What a place! The history, tradition and location all just stunning. Shot 2 over on the front nine (down wind, 2 putt birdies on both par 5's) and 6 over on the back, back into the wind was brutal!
Would recommend them all but especially Brancaster and Hunstanton.
