Most overpaid sports?

In a free market surely the demand from people to watch them determines how much they are 'worth'??
Well, you also have to look at the power of labour, which is much higher in football than other industries. Premier League clubs spend 60% or more of their total turnover on wages, not many industries do that!BJG1 said:
People have died of massive heart attacks on football pitches, nobody's died in F1 for almost my entire lifetime (although I'd count Bianchi). F1 isn't very dangerous anymore, lots of motorsport is, of course.
Those were pre-existing heart conditions though so I would say they don't really count i.e. they weren't a direct result of football itself, it could have happened while they were doing any number of physical activities.BJG1 said:
When was the last time a piece of another car hit and killed an F1 driver?
Massa came pretty close didn't he?But anyways, this is something you have to factor in when choosing YOUR overpaid sport: potential frequency of injury vs injury severity. I know I'd rather suffer a lot of minor injuries than one major one.

That's the whole point - it's the power of the market at work. Clubs could only afford to do this due to the demand from supporters.Gassing Station | Sports | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
