Seems likely England will not enforce the declaration (if we get the chance) and go for a 40 over burst to make it safe. Pitch is really breaking up now.

Lead by 300 with Root and Stokes in ...this will be an interesting decision for Root. My guess is once Stokes is in and maybe 30 or 40 more runs on the board Stokes opens up to try for a 400 lead and India bat tonight. Sounds defensive but Pant’s run a ball innings and the strength of the Indian batting will be a worry...fifth day pitch or not.

We need enough overs to get the new ball to finish India off. Tricky trying to work out how many runs we need to let Bess and Leach do their stuff without worrying about how many runs they've shipped. I think Roots still a bit traumatised about that game against the Windies in 2017 when he declared too early and they came back and won it.
