I noticed that the wire on the board was much thicker than it so today. Has the gauge of the wire used on dartboards been reduced since the heyday of Bullseye and could that explain the increase in the number of 180's being recorded? We should be told.

I don't think they had diamond cit in those days. The profile was totally round, whereas now the wire has a triangular profile so it's impossible to hit it. That's why the wires is moved so often when they go for doubles.
