I thought Giles was very impressive rolleyes

it's all been going downhill since Marshy left there ... what was the reason he left ... wanted too much money ??

No. He did the usual Aussie thing. He got miffed because his input on selection was ignored after he disagreed (quite rightly) with the dropping of Chris Read for Jones the drop. So instead of fighting his corner he wimped out and scuttled back of to convict land with his tail between his legs. Reminded me of that other blubbering big girls blouse Kim Hughes.

well if you won't listen to a guy hired to get the ship back upright then why stay behind and fight a broken system ?

obviously you've got some "bright" selectors rolleyes because you've done so well since Marshy left.

oh, and the 'usual Aussie thing' is to come over there, sort the situation out (WWI and WWII) and let you lot sit back and take the glory silly

btw Kim Hughes is never remembered for anything else here in Oz either, total sissy , something Marshy would NEVER be accused of

ok, the game between Oz and NZ went like this :

Oz bat first, Gilly starts killing it again but then he and Hayden get out and the scoring slows from 7-8/over down to 4.8 at one stage then Symonds and White decide with 8 overs to go that they will up the tempo back to about 10 runs per over and we finish with 289 runs

NZ captain has done well with his placings and thinking but the low score is more because Oz didn't try hard and the Kiwis bowled to their plan and restricted them

Thne the Kiwis do well to get to 3/161 then the wheels fell off and they lost the rest for 20 odd runs, pathetic really

I may be able to get a ticket to a game now as I don't think many people will turn up for Oz playing either of this lot

or a game beyond the comprehension of Americans biglaugh

lasts 5 days or one day or half a day depending on which country you follow ..... most of the 5 day games Australia plays are really 3 day games when we play England boxedin

"England's approach is at odds with most other international sides, who put big-hitting batsmen at the top of the order in one-day games to take advantage of fielding regulations."

So says the BBC on their website today ...

We have to get a different mix before the World Cup surely? What about Mal Lye? I know he's in the 30 for the World Cup but he deserves a go IMO. Whether he'll get one is another thing.

MUST make the 20/20 World Cup team though - that's the time to do away with Bell and Strauss etc.

Boys are bowling well. Except Lewis who is exactly the type of bowler you dont take to Australia OR the caribbean. Why is Broad not playing here? Jimmy Anderson looked good and he was quick - several balls over 90mph.

So Broad should be in for Lewis - agree there -

38 overs - NZ 146-7. Colly just bowled a wkt maiden - good lad!

Eng chasing 180?

Remember we've got to bat yet! hehe

Not watching as I'm at work but it's on TMS on LW - the pitch is a slow low apparently.

How's Nixon keeping?

They're saying on TMS that the last Eng batsman (other than KP) to hit a six in a ODI was ...

.. Chris Read eight ODI's ago!

Eng have not got the firepower at the top of the order to take advantage of the fielding restrictions ... get Mal Loye in!

205-9 they got ...

We should get this all being well ... four an over - they'll have to bowl us out to win to be honest.

this is possibly the most boring game I have ever watched - boring as batshit

I think they should just pay these guys off and call it quits as neither of these sides has ANY firepower to match it with Oz

this game SHOULD be taped and played whenever you can't get to sleep, the most exciting part is when they called for a 'newer' ball rolleyes

Having been woken by the wife at 8am as saying "Do you want to see England win a game of cricket" as they replayed the highlights I couldn't believe we nearly made such a pig's ear of it.

Went to sleep with Eng 20 or so off about 7 overs ... blimey, slow going or what - couldn't believe the mindset of the guys when they went out there.

Our thinking is that if we have wickets in hand we should win so they play ultra defensive trying not to get out and forget to get any runs, thinking they can step it up in the last 10 overs or so, but of cuorse then the odd wicket goes down here and there and you're down with the rate and losing wickets.

I'm sure Australia would have come out and coasted along at 5 or 6 an over - game would have been over in 40 overs max.

I don't think we have enough players who have been successful at this type of cricket for us to change our thinking when chasing a score ... and we must do to have any idea we complte with Australia. Would like to see us bat first on Friday and take it to them - at least set a decent score that they can chase under lights for once.

One more thing ...

If Vaughan is injured and cannot play against Australia, who do you make capt? I would go for Strauss instead of Fred, but will the selectors have the bottle as that makes their decision to give it to Fred before the Ashes laughable ... which a lot of people suggested it was.

Your best all-rounder isn't necessarily the best choice for capt. - look at Botham.
