Anyone listen to the boxing podcasts from Mike Costello and Steve Bunce?
I set off on a long hike today and downloaded a few. The interview with Kellie Maloney is a must listen. Really interesting and very funny stories along the way.

Yes every Tuesday. I've mentioned it before on this post but the greatest fight series they did during lockdown last year was truly special. If you have even a passing interest in boxing I would urge you to seek it out on the iplayer. In those really odd months of the April /May lockdown it was very welcome entertainment and a totally unique series that would never have been possible without the unique situation of the lockdown. Totally gripping with amazing guests it's a truly remarkable series of I think ten episodes. I set off on a long hike today and downloaded a few. The interview with Kellie Maloney is a must listen. Really interesting and very funny stories along the way.

It happens all the time, though not as often at the very top level
Yeah I meant belt holders really. Obviously impossible to confirm 2 title fights in a row with different fighters because if you lose the first it's either a rematch or you're no longer champion and that second fight is no longer in the interests of the other fighter.with andrade now fighting williams we have a unification between ibf and wba holders...
looks like golovkin is going to japan to fight ryoto murata in the spring.... good fight that .. murata only lost on split decision to n'jikam and brant but reversed both of those in immediate rematches... i think the first loss to n'jikam was a robbery and he stopped brant in their rematch...

A good read into Daniel Kinahan. Corruption/crime/the mob have always existed in boxing and always will but bloody hell. Perhaps the wrong word, but the ugly side of boxing, the corruption & the criminals has always fascinated me.

Very happy with that result. Developed a real dislike for Warrington after he robbed Ghalahad and then froze him out, only to lose the belt out of the ring anyway.
Warrington and his Dad are boxing charvas relying on the Leeds football thugs for support. After his behaviour in the build ups to the Barry and the Selby fights last night's result raised a smile.

I don’t like or dislike Warrington and generally speaking I find it difficult to care about tiny little boxers.
I do dislike Galahad, combination of drugs and personality, though I still thought vacating the IBF was a strange move.
I imagine is 50/50 now if we even see Warrington again.

I think you could be right - in round 4 there was a couple of times before the knockdown when Warrington was tilting his head side to side, for no obvious reason. I've seen that happen a few times before with boxers, when it later became clear they had experienced damage to their brain.I know the commentators were saying he didn't have a problem with the weight, but I wonder if he experienced significant dehydration before the weigh-in as that can make the brain much more susceptible to punches.

You CAN box again after bleeds on the brain.I know the commentators were saying he didn't have a problem with the weight, but I wonder if he experienced significant dehydration before the weigh-in as that can make the brain much more susceptible to punches.
Of course there’s ben no suggestion that Warrington has suffered anything like that yet, but it was quite a comprehensive kicking and from a man brought in to keep him busy. I believe he has done okay out of boxing and with the top of the division now as far away as it’s ever been and a young family to think about, he may just not want it anymore.
found a great colourized film of sam langford versus bill lang... it's amazing to me how different it looks from the black and white version i'm used to...
