anyway ladies.. we've digressed somewhat. Who is the brave soul among you who will prepare the aforementioned list of all sports (major or minor) where England have beaten the aussies last time round? Try as you like but the reciprical list will put you to shame. Once again - lets start with that backyard comp called the "Lymp's" where even without the genetic freak of world swimming we spank you like the naughty CHAV child you are! Maybe add the Winter lymps for good measure too - it's winter nearly all year here & we even do better in that! We don't even have winter FFS!

Motorsport, in particular Formula 1

excellent, I was waiting for some goose to bring this up, trust it to be you .... ever heard of Jack Brabham or Allan Jones

Jack is the only and will forever be the ONLY person to win the WDC in his OWN car

4 WDC between them

Also hsv you forgot about the America's Cup which was the longest held trophy in history, the Irishman Lipton tried for many years to win it but it was the Ben Lexcen designed and built winged-keel that won the trophy

Oh god, the hypocrite is back

Did i say that Australia didn't have any ??? The answer your looking for is no. So you point is fairly useless. But thanks for trying.

Just for the cheap seats, i thought this debate was about comparisons between Britain and Australia. Hope thats now understood

ps- still sticking with the personal insults eh, good charactuer trait

the whole team is shellshocked, lost confidence and looking very bedraggled and not enough tme to recover for the WC ... they've lost the edge that is needed and I'd say unlikely to get it back for a while .... still it could be worse we could have met Bangladesh first up hehe

Nope! Bet he can't wait to have Punter back at the helm so he can just go back to fielding at mid-on and trying to score runs. I did feel a bit sorry for the fella, he slayed us all summer and made a real name for himself......then I remembered he was a convict and laughed out loud.

Beside his personal traumas I was so happy to see Mitchell go for a pummeling and Bracken. Tait got a couple but never looked a true form wicket taker. Oh, those weeks to the WC can't come quick enough - wonder what kind of teams we'll both put out in that warm up match?

.....and back to the cricket....

I can't believe that Lawson reckons Australia would have won EVERY game against NZ if Stuart Clark had played. He goes on about how good a cricket brain he has and how good his knowledge is, erm what about goldenballs Hussey? Give the lad his due, Clark is an alright bowler but an outright match winner, I think not.

Lee's got a scan on Monday so should finds out next week if the 3 croc's of Lee, Hayden and Roy get the go ahead.

I like Clark as a bowler because he can bowl to a plan and is metronomic in the same way as McGrath was. I would suggest that he is the best of the Aussie seamers now with Glenda's bolt well and truly shot. Lawson's grabbing at straws though.

As an aside I once read something by a test cricketer from the same era that Geoff Lawson was generally considered to be the most boring man ever to draw breath. hehe

One of the few good things that Lawson ever did was to scone Boycott with a rather sharp bouncer.

Oh yes and as a parent giving the opposition umpire a gob full from the sideline for giving a percieved bad decision against his son's team.

I do think Clark would have made the world of difference against NZ, they could have dropped Watson because they only batted past 5 once, he would have taken huge pressure off the other bowlers.

Bracken is a proven performer, Johnson has potential and Watson bowls right arm runs.

Hussey made a fundamental error with the field when Tait was bowling, at his pace he was never going to be slammed down the ground so long on should have been up and fine leg back, Ponting won't make that mistake twice.

Botham put him to all parts back in Headingley in '81 though ...

I agree with your field observations ... fine leg has to be back for Tait, as he oftens fires one down the leg which at this level is a four ball ...

I was surprised he got the nod over Clark for the WC squad ... he *can* bowl well at the death (Tait) but do the Aussies need two out and out quick men - if he opens with Lee expect some raring starts from the likes of Sri Lanka, India etc.

I reckon Tait has a suspect action (close to chucking) be surprised if he doesn't get called for it in the WC

I'll be sure to call him every ball then, and also give Lee the usual "NO BALLLL" chants.

(Assuming he goes that is)

And the answer to that is no, he won't be going. Replaced by Clark.

Yes, Lee out. He will be missed for his batting down the order too ... not saying Clark can't bat but he ain't Lee ... and nor is Bracken who is now sure to play most games I would think.
