Feel for Kuchar.
Spieth getting away with a single shot penalty from fairway conditions after that tee shot sticks in the throat slightly. Rule are rules, but a 17 minute wait for Kuchar can't be fair.
Amazing recovery, but he had more than the 'rub of the green' on a number of holes.Spieth getting away with a single shot penalty from fairway conditions after that tee shot sticks in the throat slightly. Rule are rules, but a 17 minute wait for Kuchar can't be fair.
Agreed, his poor tee shots should definitely have been punished more but his shot into the green on the next hole was just superb considering how unsettled he must have felt.
I was rooting for Kuch but Spieth was no doubt the best golfer over the last few holes, it seemed like the big mistake made him pull himself together again and he showed no mercy.
Oh, and Rory, what might have been but for so many loose shots.
For me as a lowly 28 handicapper it is quite reassuring that these guys can put their shots so far into the cabbage though, I thought it was only me!

Difference being you have no chance of finding your ball while they can be 120 yards offline and still find theirsI was rooting for Kuch but Spieth was no doubt the best golfer over the last few holes, it seemed like the big mistake made him pull himself together again and he showed no mercy.

Rather like the toilet breaks that the Tennis players take, the 25 minutes between Kuchar's shots allowed Spieth to pull himself together and get fired up.
If he'd been forced to play it where it was within a few minutes (they were on the clock), I doubt he'd have got his st together.
But them's the rules and he suddenly began to play like he did the three days before after his sojourn in the driving range.
Ho hum.

The Pros know the rules and exactly how to use them to their best advantage. If he'd been forced to play it where it was within a few minutes (they were on the clock), I doubt he'd have got his st together.

Indeed - I often wonder how many shots I'd save if there was always someone to find my ball for me. Not only saving shots from lost balls, but also meaning you don't have to rush a shot because you've spent 4 mins looking for a ball and the next group are already on the tee etc!Dan_1981 said:
Someone talk me through the ruling for Speith?
Balls unplayable so he takes a drop.... I get that. What's the line of sight relief rule he used to move out from behind the wagons?
Exactly that - the trucks are not part of the golf course and were in his way, so he gets to drop away from them to a point where they are no longer obstructing his view to the target.Balls unplayable so he takes a drop.... Someone with a more detailed knowledge of the rules, will be able to give a more accurate summary, in due course!
It was a bit bizarre that the range isn't out of bounds. They won't make that mistake again. Speith could have taken his drop at the bottom hill quite easily (and about 10 mins quicker), but as a good pro used the rules to his advantage. His play after that was great though, although luck was on his side today - as was my little EW bet on him.
