Why is women's golf seemingly dominated by players from The Far East when the men's game is so Western-oriented?
I think it's just a numbers game. In the Far East there are many multiples more lady players than we have here.Teenage female golfers are extremely rare in the UK, so the chances of us unearthing a world-class talent are relatively low.
My daughter (6) is enthusiastically taking lessons, but I know the chances of her keeping it up through her teens despite other distractions, and ending-up a good golfer are pretty slim.
In the West golf, and especially ladies golf, is certainly not cool. I don't think it is seen the same way in the Far East.

The mens game has become mostly about power. Obviously some shorter hitters win, but scoring averages do tend to follow driving distance. That's not so true of the womens game. This may be a crass generalisiation, but the physical/size advantage that western men have isn't really an issue for the women, and the courses are much, much shorter on the LPGA.
Korean men also have to do 2 years national service, so I'd imagine this impacts their peak years as a golfer.

I can't comment about what happens in the West, but from my time in Hong Kong, the number of ladies who were at the various driving ranges and golf courses was tremendous.Teenage female golfers are extremely rare in the UK, so the chances of us unearthing a world-class talent are relatively low.

Women have never really been encouraged to golf in the UK. It's not all that long ago that they were hardly tolerated at all.
